Re: ITA UPDATE

So only 15% of us are professional tanning business's?

I did get a call today from our distributor asking if we had done this so they are picking up the phone and calling salons....WAY TO GO!!!

Problem with many is they said they are not getting owners...but young employees who have NO CLUE!

Is there a list of owners and numbers out there somewhere? I will even start calling...anyone know?

Still using client cards & twist timers behind the counter.

I've sent the link out many times & have also gotten it about 50 times from salons.
Get real. You know the game as much as I do. Not all small scale salons are dives, and not all mega salons are "industry friendly." Poop--if we sent Obama a cheat sheet of the top 250 salons, I bet 85% of the salons on THAT list would ask to correct their answers!

Re: ITA UPDATE

Not sure where to find the number but anyway I count by the number of emails i have gotten back from senator Brown.......regardless I hope salon owners get their customers to do this...... and it wouldn't hurt to call all of your competitors and let them know to do the same......we are in this together. oh it was amazing to me that not one salon owner knew about this letter writing campaign...... zero out of the 14 owners that I called.

Re: ITA UPDATE

That's why we need all the vendors on board with this. The vast majority of salons do not belong to the ITA, Smart Tan or visit these sites so the more salons the vendors can reach the better. Many of the vendors are sending out emails so hopefully more salons will become informed of what is going on.

Legislative Update -- Victory in Washington State
I want you to be aware of a significant victory in Washington State yesterday. Two anti-indoor tanning bills missed a key legislative deadline which in practical terms, kills both bills for this year.
HB 2652, which started as an under 18 ban never made it out of the House Rules Committee. SB 6663, also an under 18 ban, died on the Senate floor calendar when the sponsors couldn't muster enough votes to pass the bill. HB 2652 was very troubling because it also contained a provision requiring the industry to pay for a public awareness campaign about the risks of UV exposure!
On the local level, special thanks go to Mark Willard of Desert Sun, Scott Swerland of Seattle Sun Tan and Daniel Mann of Tropical Tan for their leadership. I also want to thank Marty Gallagher (SunTan Supply) and Matt Russell (SmartTan) for their help with our successful grassroots campaign.
Unfortunately, because both bills were reported out of committee, we must assume that our opponents will be back next year. And with your continued support, we will be back to oppose them again.
**Please Note: All human activity presents risk, especially if not done in moderation. Please tan responsibly.
