Mama's (and Mama's to be), don't let your babies get rickets.

Click on the link below to access an interesting and informative story from the New York Times titled "Vitamin D Deficiency May Lurk In Babies" that should have been titled "Vitamin D Deficiency In Mothers Will Result In Vitamin D Deficiency In Their Babies."

I loved the line attributed to pediatrician Dr. Frank Greer of the U of Wisconsin. He said "Historically speaking, we probably got it (vitamin D) from the sun, but now we are afraid of the sun and we don't go out as much."

That, folks, is the "gift" that the dermatology community and the sunscreen industry (i.e., the anti-tanning "nannies") have given the American public. The fact that they have willfully created an unnecessary and unrealistic fear (F = false; E=emanations; A=appearing; R=real) of the sun (and sunbeds) in order to sell their services and products will ultimately cause them to be regarded as enemies of the public.

And the fact that they have targeted women of child bearing age and teenagers, i.e., the two groups most in need of vitamin D, for their "fear mongering" antics shows how low they will go to make a buck.

Shame on them all!
