The evidence that D is effective against autoimmune diseases like diabetes, multiple scleriosis, and Crohn’s disease, as well as certain types of malignancies is, at the moment, statistical. Tavera-Mendoza and White have detected patterns of risk among populations in areas of the world that are not penetrated by UVB. This band of sunlight is abundant all year round in the tropics but not in the temperate regions which receive it only in the summer months.
