Study says season of cancer diagnosis affects survival rate

October 8, 2007 - Men diagnosed with prostate cancer may have a better chance of survival if the diagnosis is made in the summer or fall. That's the conclusion of a study of 40,000 men in Norway over 40 years. Related Links

Researchers say that vitamin D, which ahs been shown to inhibit cancers, might be a factor since vitamin D is highest in fall and summer.
Researchers say they must do more research into the role of vitamin D and prostate cancer. The study was published in the journal The Prostate.
