Vitamin D casts cancer prevention in new light
A really nice print worthy article.
Entire Article at: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servl...andHealth/home The main way humans achieve healthy levels of vitamin D is not through diet but through sun exposure. (Eliseo Fernandez/Reuters) But perhaps the biggest bombshell about vitamin D's effects is about to go off. In June, U.S. researchers will announce the first direct link between cancer prevention and the sunshine vitamin. Their results are nothing short of astounding. |

Re: Vitamin D casts cancer prevention in new light
Eileen:
This is a "bombshell" article! EVERYONE should print out this article and make it available to their clients. Here is another link that Mo Shpur sent me. [Note: The article states that "Only brief full-body exposure to bright summer sunshine - of 10 - 15 minutes a day - are needed to make a high amount of the vitamin." Our data shows that it (on a typical summer day) it takes 15 minutes PER SIDE of whole-body exposure. FYI, the "experts" don't seem to understand that sunlight (like a mattress HID/hp sunbed) can only "hit" one side of the body at a time and that the "original" studies on the amount of exposure required to stimulate a specific level of vitamin D utilized 360 degree booths. The "typical" 360 degree sunbed takes 6 - 10 minutes to produce the "equivalent" of 10,000 IU.] Please note that the statement "But most authorities, including Health Canada, have urged a total avoidance of strong sunlight, or alternatively, heavy use of sunscreen. Both recommendations will block almost all vitamin D synthesis." takes Health Canada (and the so-called "authorities" - i.e., the dermatology community) to task. My reaction is - it's about time! But the best "factoid" was attributed to Dr. John Cannell of the Vitamin D Council who said that "Fifteen hundred Americans die every year from skin cancers. Fifteen hundred Americans die every day from the serious cancers." Don http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servl...andHealth/home> |
