Rep Power: 23 | Okay Salon Owners... I'd really like some serious input on this. After talking to a fellow salon owner (who shall remain nameless) who said "If I had it to do all over again, I would have gone with a different program than Helios" (ironically the same day I received my demo) it really had me thinking. What other programs are out there? And if you had it to do all over again, would you have selected something different? What WOULD you have picked and WHY? Scott, I expect your input as well to tell me why Helios and nothing else. Thanks all,Laurie |

Rep Power: 0 | Laurie,I always recommend that people do their due diligence when looking to make a major purchase. As far as salon software goes you should call and get a demo from the 3 or 4 major vendors in your vertical market. As you receive the demos you should begin reviewing them while writing down any questions that you come across for each product. When you finish the review process, call their sales department and have them answer the questions that you came up with and give you a walk through of their product.Once you’ve finished the review process of each product it’s time to look at the financial impact that the purchase will have on your business. Ask each company the following cost questions:- What does the software cost?- How much is technical support?- How much do they charge for updates and upgrades when they are released? Now that you’ve gathered information on the products and costs it’s time to call me and get signed up on Helios!(888) 282-4306 ext. 14 |

Rep Power: 25 | Laurie,You didn't say why your friend would change. Believe me, I did as thorough of job as anyone of searching for new software and in the end stayed with who we brought to the dance and am happy that I did.Again, why would your friend say that? What are the reasons?R |

Rep Power: 23 | I have only one concern with Helios! We have been using it for years. The first software ver. 6 I think came weeks after paid and ordered. The softeware came with NO instructions they didnt come till a month later. Good thing for me I could figure out how to set it all up and use it. Most people could not with out a manual. That problem has now been fixed with the newer versions. Thank you Helios. The new version 9 was not sent to me as it should have with my monthly paid contract, until it had been released for months and only after many phone calls to Helios. When we last asked for version 9 and was told they would send it, it took a good 2 weeks to receive the software. That is far too long. The software now uses a DONGLE a hardware chip that plugs into the printer port of the computer. This is needed for Helios to work. After I ordered and paid for the DONGLE it took a good 2 week to receive it. Too Long.HERE IS THE CONCERN ! Think of the stress if this happened at the busy season, when breakins usually take place in this business, due to larger then normal stock. If my dongle goes down due to static or some other force, or the computer is stolen with dongle in place which it would be.I would have the software and my back up, in theory I could be up and running in a matter of a few hours at worst even if I had to buy a new computer. But I would need to wait to be able to use the software for the new dongle to be mailed to me, 2 weeks at least if all goes well or longer it the new dongle they send me was to get lost in the mail, or delivered to the wrong place. It could take a month if some how things got really screwed up some how.To have a wait of 2 weeks for a dongle is bad enough. This is a serious concern for Helios users and need to be addressed. Please let me know if this is no longer a issue.I am in Canada so the mail will be slower in any case. |

Rep Power: 23 | More on this subject. The wait would require you to have a back up cash register to replace Helios POS,You would need a current paper print out of client session status. Print one daily! You will be working from this paper file until the dongle comes. Is there a way for fast true over night delivery in to Canada and all the US states?Helios software is a large help to any tanning salon. Helios is getting better every version.Helios biggest selling point is I hope it remains streamline and easy to use.You can teach a employee how to use it quickly, some employees can figure out how to make sales and to tan on it, all most by them selves. |

Rep Power: 23 | oh yaA bummer for Canadians is the dollar rate that makes monthly fees high compared to what Americans pay.Helios can you hear me 8-)We have been thinking about doing away with the monthly service fee, because of the higher cost we pay. Most things like software and electronics sold in Canada sell for the same price as they do in the US. The real value on such goods is perceived more then real when it comes to selling. |
