Rep Power: 0 | Helios has instituted a back date prevention guard in this upgrade and the last. If you did any master editing of dates or times on your previous version, any changing of dates or times anywhere, you'll get this message. It caused me much initial grief and has dimished my options in the transaction file--but there it is. If you can find the alteration, change it back and the message should go away. |

Rep Power: 25 | A message to Helios Tech Support and Development.I understand the intent of this safeguard and it works, in my opinion all to well.Salon Owners are not aware that this feature has been added and they are not aware of what causes it and what to do to get the system working again. You are attempting to provide the Salon Owner with additional security but it has in four cases that I am aware of, caused the system to be unavailable for ongoing operation for a number of hours. PAINFUL As I have stated before, DO NOT HALT the system. Provide alert reporting to owner. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss some ideas here that would, in my opinion, be as effective as the HALT and not disrupt the operation of the salon. In one of my four cases it was actually the owner themselves that cause the problem and did not know what they had done until I located the source of the problem.Helios Development - GREAT IDEA - that went to far, the opinion of one.Andy ThompsonMaster Helios Trainer and all round nice guy (again the opinion of at least one)[This message has been edited by Andy @ ATSO.ca (edited 06-09-2001).] |

Rep Power: 25 | Before anyone posts asking me for details on the BackDate feature.SORRY - not here - Employees read this also RIGHT. Salon owners call Tech Support for info on this excellent control feature. If you are not on Tech Support, no need to call you would not have installed either of the lastest two updates anyway - right.Andy[ This Message was edited by: Andy @ ATSO.ca on 2002-05-14 10:04 ] |

Rep Power: 0 | If the intention is to prevent backdating, there are sharewares available that allow you to password protect any program or applet in the computer, including Windows clock and yes, the DOS window. This would let a salon owner back date when he needs to. And it does happen. I used it to manually put in EFT sales transactions (from an old processor) and I backdated or forward dated to the exact day of processing. Can't do that now. And occasionally I would need to change the date in the transaction file.I would like the Helios backdate feature if the salon owner had some choice in the matter. Maybe they could make it a choice in the "set-up system files." |
