Question Salontouch evolution doesn't work with a fingerprint device ?!?

I use Salontouch Evolution 2.1.2 and I had to replaced my computer to a new computer with Windows 7. After transferring all the information suddenly I have been told that the fingerprint device "will not work" base on the information from salontouch tech support.
Does anyone aware why a fingerprint device (UAreU) doesn't work with window 7. I talked to to salontouch and they said that this is because window 7 has 64bit vs. the 32bit that the fingerprint needs. But "on their latest version it will work"...so honestly I am not sure if they just trying to sell me the latest version. My personal computer tech is a bit sceptic and he believe that they are trying to sell me a newer version
Does anyone have a similar experience with salon touch evolution operating on window 7 where the fingerprint device doesn't work ???

Re: Salontouch evolution doesn't work with a fingerprint device ?!?

I use the finger identification and the scanner. I installed windows 7 32bit to avoid the issue. I understand the the new version will work on 64bit windows without the fingerprint dongle but I will have to blow out all of my old fingerprints and start from scratch.
We went 32 bit windows 7 for this reason to avoid the issue.

Several pieces of specialized software will not run correctly if installed (or tried to install) onto a 64-bit platform. It is mainly due to the vendors not creating new dll's for 64-bit. For this reason alone, every upgrade for the salon we have had to keep our main computers running a 32-bit OS. A pain as a 32-bit OS is limited to 4GB(3.5) of RAM.

We had the same experience. What we did (same as rbrooks did) we change the system from 64bit to 32 bit. You can just buy a CD and any computer tech will be able to help you with the process. Afterwards I had no issues with the fingerprint device working with my Salontouch Evolution.
