Tanning tax and Groupon

Recently started a groupon. Now the question is how do I account for the tanning tax when groupon keeps half the money? My Tan Track software has made it clear they do not support the Groupon methodology in any way.

Re: Tanning tax and Groupon

Keep a manual accounting of your groupon sales and simply make the adjustment in reporting your sales. Just act stupid, like the new auditors Obama hired. lol

Re: Tanning tax and Groupon

Set up a code or codes just for the Groupon offer.

Re: Tanning tax and Groupon

Thank you for the help. I set up a package for the offer. I am going to play dumb because I'm pretty sure groupon is not going to send the IRS their share of the take. lol

Re: Tanning tax and Groupon

You do realize that the Groupon will normally advise the person buying it that they are responsible for paying all taxes on the purchase? It has been on every Groupon I have ever seen in small print either when purchasing the Groupon or on the Groupon coupon itself.

Re: Tanning tax and Groupon

Yes I did think of that but being a die hard Oregonian with no sales tax and having all my packages include the tanning tax, I really did not plan on charging customers. But you are correct. I should charge them the tanning tax before I go broke.
