Sound System

We are opening a new tanning salon in the midwest and have 12 rooms that we'll need music for. I'm sure this is a common discussion thread but being new to this forum I thought I'd throw this out. What is the best way to provide music without a boom box or small player in each room? thanks!

What Brian said.

You put the 70-volt amp somewhere accessible, and daisy chain lines to each room for a speaker and volume control.

Re: Sound System

Personally I see a lot of clients using their iPods or smartphones with Pandora or their personal play lists going while in the tanning beds. We have a stereo in our lobby playing backround music. I am also looking for other alternatives to use in each room but I haven't had a complaint about not providing stereos. IPod docking stations seem to be a realistic option.

Re: Sound System

I had the typical 70 volt system. I picked up some very sharp looking speakers (again, 70 volt). The flush mounted to the wall just find and have a transformer to set the voltages and "level" volume. (for a loud bed, you may want to bump up one of them). Just make sure you dont exceed wattages, etc.

Here is the speaker I bought. Got them pretty cheap, this link is just to show them:

Anyway, the prior owner had the same system but used small speakers most beds came with. They were bad. BUT clients specifically came to the salon because of the music. And they avoided salons that had none or a system that let people choose a genre. When people could pick rap or country other would crank up jazz to drown em out! lol

For volume control there are simple volume dials that can be added. Mine were mounted within the beds, they had a location that worked great.

It was a simple setup that never failed. It ran off of iTunes so I could control the music and insert my own ads.

While many seem to have iPod, most dont. Or they will forget them. With volume control any one can turn the room music down and put ear-buds on. If you go with docks, good luck. They will get broke, get covered with lotion and I am sure a couple stolen.
