Tmax wont let bed run full time.... Help! pls

Ok, we had this issue with the previous bed but wanted to sell it anyway. Got a new bed and the same problem is happening.

20 min bed
when its set to run 20 it immediately shuts off (runs for maybe 2 sec)

When set for 19, will run full time maybe half of the time we send time to it (redundancy aside), otherwise it shuts off at some random time during the session. Same thing happens when we set it for any other amount of time.

We have other tmax timers in other rooms that are not being used. Would switching the timer fix it?? Would replacing a chip fix it??

No other beds, only the 2nd one in the chain has this problem

Thanks for the help everybody!

If its a chip it won't take any time greater than the chip is rated at. Try swapping the timer with one that you know works, this will tell you if that's the problem or not. Also check the power going to the timer it should be 9-12vdc. If it is not in that range replace the power supply to the timer. You can get them at radio shack. Make sure your contact wire to the timer and the bed and your power wire to the timer are tight.

Start there.

Great, I'll start with the timer. It there any kind of process for changing out timers from room to room, meaning do I need to disconnect red wire first then black kind of thing? Or can I just take it off and wire it back up?

Thanks for the help guys

Re: Tmax wont let bed run full time.... Help! pls

If you move the timer from one room to another you will need to re address the timer so it will corespond to the room number you are installing it in. When you set the timer, what is actually happening? Is the time you set still showing on the timer or is it resetting to zero? Does the manager show on or pause when the bed stops? What kind of beds are these connected to? Are the 3A timers flat button or raised button? Flat button would be flat with the decal and the raised button would be rubber bittons and the start button is blue. What happens when you just set the bed from the manager amd not the timer?

Answer these questions and we can go from there.

The timer shows the time left on the session just like when it is working properly, the manager as well, works just like normal. The bed is a sundash genisis. the timers are raised button 3a's. and I cant send time to the bed just from the manager for some reason

Re: Tmax wont let bed run full time.... Help! pls

I meant to say computer, not timer. You need to enter a code in the manager to unlock the manager so you can send time from it. Sending time from the computer will then lock this out again.

When the bed stops, what does the manager read??? "ON" or "PAUSED"???

If it reads paused then the problem is the timer shutting off. It could be creaked down in the wall box and activating the button. Do you spray the wall timer? It could have moisture in the buttons. Never directly spray the wall timer.

If the manager reads ON then the timer is working normally and the problem is in the bed.

Does the bed have an internal timer???

Do you need to start the 3A and also the bed timer or is it only controlled by the 3A???

Re: Tmax wont let bed run full time.... Help! pls

Yes the bed has an internal timer "inteletan plus" software, the manager when run from the computer reads "ON". The bed is controlled by the 3A and we do not need to start the bed or press any "clean" buttons. We had the exact same problem with another bed in the same room recently as well which was leading us to believe it was the timer, but I guess it could be the bed again...

Thanks a lot Brian, I really appreciate the help!

I'll post what happens when I can run the bed from the manager and not the computer when I figure that out

In addition, I just ran the bed from the computer and it shut off immediately. I then let it run for a few minutes (bed doing nothing but timer running and saying "ON") then after a few minutes I pressed the "start/stop" button on the timer twice and it came on and is running like normal as of now

Re: Tmax wont let bed run full time.... Help! pls

There is also one other thing that could be causing this that is not timer related. Check to see if any of the lamps are burned out or if any of them have black ends on them. If so remove those lamps and replace them. A filament in a lamp could be shorting out. I've seen this several times in the Sundash beds. Just one thing to check off the list of potential problems before you go too far with the timer system.

Re: Tmax wont let bed run full time.... Help! pls

Update: After countless conversations with the company who manufactures T-Max, we determined that the problem is in fact the timer. We switched the timer to a new one and got different results. Now it runs fine at 19 min. but won't at all for 20. Changed lamps (Thanks Nate, good idea), new timer, checked voltage, bed runs fine without timer, etc. Idk whats going on but we have had no problems at all at 19 min in the last few months and no body can figure it out. Customers are all good with 19 min so we just use it as is.

Thanks every body for the help!!
