Rep Power: 18 | Re: Software question Robert Please change my name to Tony if possible. Brian I forgot more about indoor tanning then you will ever know. You are clueless! Who gives a rip about an apostrophe missing. What really matters is if you can help people make more money in indoor tanning? Of course you can't. You make comments that are completely wrong about such things as EFT's which are CRITICAL to a successful salon operation. Go back to Tantoday and focus on ruining that site! |

I use a proprietary cloud based POS solution but I also use google docs and a few more applications that all run in the cloud. I am a big believer in the cloud and specially for salon owners and here is why: 1) Always backed up...no more data loses! 2) Your salon data is most at risk to theft in your salon so get your data out of your store! 3) Many apps in the cloud are free or very inexpensive! 4) You can get back up on a smartphone or an Ipad instantly If your PC dies or Windows crashes. You NEVER have to be down for hours or days except for maybe T-max functionality! 5) You can run your salon on a secondary source of Internet MUCH easier then you can a PC application. You can tether right off your cell phone if you lose your internet 6) Upgrades are easy and automatic! 7) VOIP blows away landlines, specially if you have multiple locations If you have a full time IT guy then you may not care about some of this. Most salon owners dont have the budget or expertise to handle basic computer issues. Most of the traditional support required for a PC application is unnecessary in the cloud! This allows you to minimize downtime and maximize tasks more profitable for your business! |

Rep Power: 13 | Re: Software question One thing I know is Tony has credibility. Probably biggest or nearly so on this board from a salon perspective. I disagree with him all the time but he is absolutely nobodys fool. On the subject of POS being cloud based Id say the likelyhood of a cloud based crash are a significant magnitude higher than a server based failure. Its quite inexpensive to have a mirror installed in your desktop and the odds of a double failure at same instant are pretty near zero. Chance of losing internet for a few minutes per day... very high even in todays environment. The more likely failure is your tmax systems if u dont stock a backup manager and a timer thats crazy. |
