upgrading salon touch to new software for taxes?

Has anyone paid the fee to upgrade from salon touch 7 to the new one that is suppose to help with the tax?

I was told by the sales staff that the version 7 will not collect tax on any services upgrade fees unless I switch to the newest version and it also won't have the reports that will help me break down what items tax was collected on.

I really don't want to pay $598 (2 computers) to upgrade if I don't have to since one of them I just bought less than 2 months ago.

what are other software companies doing?

Is there anyone that is better than salon touch, I am getting tired of having to pay them fee after fee and they are impossible to get in touch with if you have a problem, every time I called it was hours or sometimes the next day before I could get any help and now I found out they charge $170. if you need help.

I think in salon touch there is a setting to where you can chose to tax the tanning services.

I went to the other post on the same subject and found out how to do it. I would have assumed that the surchage tax would have been listed under taxes not under options.

I, too am a little tired of paying for the monthly maintenance which I was told was for any upgrade. Now I am told that the salontouch program will no longer have any updates...that the newest software is called "Evolution" and the cost is $5000.00 to get it....even though I have been paying monthly for the maintenance.

A bunch of crap if you ask me. Anyone with any suggestions for a different software?

we did NOT upgrade to the new Salontouch version and we are doing just fine with the old one. We simply added tax to all tanning services and added the tax into the surcharges directly! It will be easy for us to track...so we def. wont be upgrading to the new version.
