Unhappy Tan Track update-Printer problem

Hello, anyone else having problems with their reciept printers now with the 3.0 update of Tan Tracks. We can not get the manufactures of POSX to do anything because they believe it's Tan Tracks that is the problem, even though we have explained it's a development issue on the printer drivers with Microsoft, at least that's what Tan Track says. POSX even mentioned that there was only one other complaint like mine and of course it was from a Tan Track user.

The problem is I purchased the hardware a year ago and it worked fine with the previous versions, and now it won't work unless i purchase an Epson from Tan Track, because according to them, all of their Espons have been configured to work with their software.

POSGUYS whom i purchased it through won't help either, no exchanges, why would they when Tan Track users are the only ones complaining.

Very frustrated with Tan Tracks....

anyone want to buy a perfectly good POSX thermal receipt printer, and isn't using Tan Tracks?

Unhappy Re: Tan Track update-Printer problem

Thanks for your reply, mine worked with the other versions of Tan Tracks as i researched it before purchasing my computer and hardware but have had nothing but problems with Tan Tracks.

I got a 32 processor because that was the requirement at the time and then they changed it to 64 so i'm stuck with that and vista.

Tan Track said if i had purchased their hardware it would work so if that doesn't tell you something right there....my frustration is i shouldn't have to get new hardware to accommodate their upgrade when everything was working fine before......ggggrrrrr

On another note: Yes, i got the 3.0 and i like alot of the new features.

Re: Tan Track update-Printer problem

sorry, it seems my 1st reply was premature, I have a Posx printer and true, it did not open the drawer with the predictability I would have liked. However It did print receipts, something people like to see right after you swipe their plastic. If your the type that likes to have any clue how dis / honest your employees are, you probably like to run Z reports too.

I have now stepped in it...3.0 that is.
The printer is the very lest of it, no your not crazy man!
It's just that you keep frying your darn brain on that darn 3.0 thing.
It'll make you rip every hair out of your head.
and your employees,...and your wifes,... and your dogs.
I'm puzzled by one thing...
the last line of your last post on this thread???
is that the madness I have to look forward to?

Re: Tan Track update-Printer problem

The main problem with your POSX printer is that the company who makes them is not a player in the retail industry. Therefore, they are not staying up with the retail technologies that came out about 3 years ago.

Because so many of our users have various brands and models of printer, we were unable to have a consistent looking receipt from one brand/model to another. This has been a huge problem in the retail industry. All of the retail manufacturers finally got together and created one standard way of talking to all retail devices so that software companies could produce consistent results and not have to write specific code for each brand & model in the field. These technologies are widely used in larger retail establishments who are also the ones that set the pace for future technology.

To stay on top of this much improved direction, we too decided to switch to the newer method with the release of 3.0. That is why your POSX printer is unable to work with 3.0. Essentially, while all the major printer manufacturers have moved ahead with this technology, yours has not. All of the printers we sell do have the necessary upgrades to work with 3.0.

Re: Tan Track update-Printer problem

Yeah, thats great but you guys are making a mistake trying to FORCE your users into buying POS hardware from you at a ridiculous mark up. That only makes most people REALLY MAD, even more so when they didn't even need to buy hardware before they got the little nugget of love called 3.0
that starts playing a slide show of hardware as soon as the installation starts.
then flashes pictures of hardware at you all day telling you "NO FINGER SCANNER INSTALLED"

I found out today that If I didn't buy a receipt printer from you, that apparently you made it impossible for me to install one without paying you $75 !!!

Really!... I hope that is not correct, I'm already having to buy a new computer and new printer because of the update.

That my friend is how you make people so angry, they look for a different software.

I did not make you or anyone else my exclusive hardware source, at the very lest you could warn people before hand.
but I guess that doesn't fit your sales plan.

Re: Tan Track update-Printer problem

There is absolutely no reason for you to be forced to use Windows XP. Our software works fine on XP, Vista, and Windows 7. Some people have issues with the serial to USB converters used for the T-Max and based on what we see, it is mostly on Vista machines. XP and Win7 seem to work fine but we have also seen random issues there as well. XP is the most stable of the OS platforms and its been around the longest. Its also why Microsoft themselves provide options to downgrade to it. Its not limited to us by any means.

That said, if you have a regular serial port instead of a Serial to USB converter for your timers, you will not have that issue and any Windows OS XP or above is fine.

If POSX printers are infact recycled Epson printers, then it is possible that the drivers can be configured to use them depending on the engine inside of the printer itself. Since there doesn't seem to be any sticker on the outside of the POSX printer, it is impossible for us to know which model it "used" to be to configure it for you.

We do not provide technical support (for free) on hardware purchased elsewhere. Thus the setup fee in your case. We do not force you to buy it from us but if you do, we provide technical support on the hardware for the life of the product - even if your software support has expired.

Re: Tan Track update-Printer problem

You tell them Jetsontan, because i 110% agree with you....they have a huge mark up on their printers. They sell there's for around $500+, when mine was perfectly fine before the upgrade, which was a brand new printer, bar code scanner and cash drawer. Just like the computer that i purchase using the specs off their website. I had to get Vista because they were the only ones with 34 instead of 64 like the specs said at that time...

Then of course after i purchase the crap Tantrack changes the specs for their software, thanks again after spending $2000 on a computer to suite their requirements and the POS to now have it not work properly.

Trust me don't blame Tantracks software for any of their glintches either they'll blame your computer instead and trust me we have had nothing but problems with 3.0.....

Jetsontan i'm so on your team....

Re: Tan Track update-Printer problem

I'm playing with Solaris and they want to sell me their hardware as well. some I may have no choice but I did get an Epson TM88iiip to work with mine. I also got the cash drawer to work with the RJ11 plug.
go to https://www.epsonexpert.com/login and sign up for a free account then log in and search for your printer and download the latest driver.
If your printer is connected with a RJ11 plug then you will have to enter a "drawer pop string" google that and some guy has a complete list just about every pos reciept printer find yours and write down the code and if yours has a cutter you will need that as well. now I don't know anything about tan track but in your settings you may have a place to enter that info
