Rep Power: 30 | Router issue About 6 months ago my vpn router started losing the internet connection to the point we were resetting it 30-40 times a day. We installed a new router with the exact same issue then installed a new dsl modem which didn't solve the problem either. The phone company on many occasions promised it was not a problem on there end so I finally installed a new router identical to the first one. You guessed it. Same problem. The last router was installed about 2 months ago along with all new cat5 cable. Now for the last couple of weeks we've only lost the internet 2 or 3 times. Does anyone have any idea why this happens? |

Rep Power: 22 | Re: Router issue If the router is losing the signal would that not be between the Modem and/or the provider? When you lose the signal are you rebooting the modem or the router? |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Router issue This happens on all systems. Constant service is done on the system and when the provider shuts it down or interupts it for a split second it affects the router and it needs to be reset to administer new local IP addresses. The problem is with the provider. |

Rep Power: 30 | Re: Router issue In almost all cases we only had to reset the router. Sometimes the connection would even come back on it's own before we got to it to reset it. I'm thinking that it was something on the phone companies end and they finally got it fixed. |

Rep Power: 22 | Re: Router issue Yup, Yup we had this all summer with Comcast in NJ as they upgraded service on LBI. Sometimes 5 times in a day. All better now. Funny they did not explain this to you.... |

Rep Power: 30 | Re: Router issue I can't tell you how many times I called them only to have them tell me they could ping the modem so it must be our problem. A few times they had me connect a computer directly to the modem which of course worked because the problem was never a prolonged outage. It was just enough to screw up the router then it was back on. |

Rep Power: 22 | Re: Router issue we had this same exact problem at one of out stores a few months back. Changed the router, modem, etc. with still the same problems. Bellsouth insisted it wasnt on there end. Finally one of their techs gave us to some advanced tech support department, they put me on hold for about 10 minutes and came back and said they found the problem and it was on there end. No idea what the problem was but it was instantly fixed and have never had the problem again. I would suggest staying on them. It took us several weeks to get to the point where someone on their end took some extra steps to look into the problem. |
