Question Helios 10.2.0 & Vista

First time setting this all up, girlfriends boss is opening up a new salon and I am his new "computer guy".

What I have is:
System:
-Dell Vostro Core 2 Duo/ 2gb ram/ 160gb hdd/ 50gb datasafe backup
-Vista Business Basic
-Didnt come with parallel port, so installed pci parallel card.

Software:
-Helios 10.2.0 (Doesnt want to pay the big $$$ to upgrade. bought 2 when initially bought the software)
-Parallel Dongle
-Cash Drawer will not be installed on computer. Manual operation on that.

Helios keeps reporting the following error:
You do not have the right hardware key to run this program.

Does it look at the printer? There is no reciept printer installed at this time.

Also have a T-Max Manager but no cables... who should I contact to get the cables needed for it.

Thanks all!

I'm a little confused but it is late. It's a new salon but he bought 2 old versions of Helios? If he signs up for support for $60 a month you should be able to get all the help you need and get the Vista drivers for the dongle.

Start here by downloading the manual that matches the model you
have. If you still have questions you can post them and see what shows up. :)

I know I got our RJ-22 connectors at a local hardware store. I believe Lowe's stocks them as well.

Vista is not going to work with this version so you need to call Helios and get the driver that works with Vista. This is a old version and I don`t know if they even support it or not. Call Scott and he can answer any of your questions. 888.936.5160

Re: Helios 10.2.0 & Vista

he was planning on opening 2 salons when he bought the software... but is now just getting to that point. Problem is he didnt pay the maintenance agreement since 06. To get support, we would have to back pay 30 some months at 60 a month... and yea that isnt happinin.

so should I just find an xp machine? salon owner said we could use his home pc and put this new one @ his house...

Re: Helios 10.2.0 & Vista

We run helios 11.6 on both a XP and Vista. The XP runs smoother. I would use the XP at least until July when Windows 7 should be released. Do you have a usb adapter or older style serial port on the XP machine?

Re: Helios 10.2.0 & Vista

It's the first time Microsoft made money off of downgrades after a new software release.
Helios does have vista drivers for that dongle
great that it worked out :)
