Rep Power: 19 | Helios built-in disable dates for "software audit" I stumbled across another forum while trying to find info on the 11.6.1 upgrade as it isn't available on Helios' site any more. There are numerous posts from Scott Bogdan referring to another upcoming "software audit" for version 11 users. According to them, Helios 11.6.1 will disable on 9/30/2009. According to other posts by Helios, versions 11.x prior to 11.6 would have disabled on 3/28/2008. I tested this statement by changing my computer date to 1/15/2010, 10/1/2009, 9/28/2009. In all instances, when Helios is opened, it says "Helios has encountered a serious error please contact Helios." I changed it to 9/27/2009 and it ran fine. 9/27/2009 = good 9/28/2009 = disabled I was just about to cancel our support agreement that we have been paying for years for nothing at all as their first new version they are actually making you pay for... If we cancel support, how will version 11 users get updates to continue past their time-bombed software? Also in posts by Scott, he mentioned a dongle replacement for users who didn't want to upgrade to version 12 beginning the end of 2008. Has anyone received replacement dongles? Is this even legal? We paid for the software. Does Microsoft disable retail copies of Office 2003 in the year 2009? I can link the referenced posts but wasn't sure if it was ok with the mods... |

Second: To ANYONE who needs any updates I have posted then to an external server for ANYONE to download. They can go shove it. Third they are REQUIRED by law to provide ANY updates that "fix" this "software audit" feature.

Rep Power: 16 | Re: Helios built-in disable dates for "software audit" My yearly subscription (paid by the previous owners) ended 12/08. It will be interesting to see if I end up disabled at some point. Version is 11.6.1 I figured the previous owner paid a total of over $3K for the Helios and the support I got was non-existent. No reason to continue to pay for nothing. |
