Purchase software outright-No mo. fees?

I have spoke to several software companies. It has been 10+yrs since we purchased our last tanning software.

Do you only have to pay monthly fees if you want support?

I would like to just purchase software outright and not make a monthly payment. Are there any companies left who will just sell the software?

Helios does not REQUIRE you to have monthly support.

You will not have access to ongoing support or updates/upgrades to the program though.

Caveat. If you do desire any of the above, they will charge a one-time fee, PLUS all back support fees before providing services.

With that said, 11.6 version is very stable, and could work for years to come.

P.S. Auto EFT drafting and posting through Chase WILL require ongoing support.

As a bonus, they do NOT charge for the software either, just a $25 deposit for the 'dongle' USB Key to operate the program.

Definitely don't sign up for support w/Helios.

There favorite answer is "That (X,Y,Z) isn't supported. Call them...."

Re: Purchase software outright-No mo. fees?

I talked to Helios yesterday. I asked if this was possible. She said yes.

11.0 is $999.00 (Only avail. thru Nov 1)
12.0 is $1299.00
Both have 1 yr tech support. EFT drafting will not work w/ this method.

She was pretty insistent that I should go with the monthly rate and have support.
I'm going to call Sunlync and Sun Touch to see if they sell this way too.

Is their support really that great? I can prob count on one hand, how many times I have called for support on our current software.

Re: Purchase software outright-No mo. fees?

Let put it this way. I am tempted to corrupt my database just to have them fly out and fix it, then maybe it would be worth having. After all it does say in the agreement they would....

Anytime I call its about something I want the software to do and guess what, it cant anyway.

I have a ticket open with them, coming up on one year without a resolution.

If 12 sucks I will go back to 11 and drop the support plan I have with them. If you do have an issue, with almost any package, you can usually get help online just as fast.

Some say its mission critical software and its part of the "dues" of small business. When I give out money, I like something back and Helios does not do that. They cant even get v12 out the door on time. Looking to have it out maybe in November now. It probably wont be out til next year.

No, in fact, it's not good at all. I've related elsewhere my first experience with their support (this was after their sales dept tried to charge me $300+ to move the software to a different computer since I was a new owner - previous owner paid for monthly service through the end of the year). I had my computer tech here putting in a new computer and installing the software. He couldn't get the beds to show. I called, got a recorded message that they were busy and would call me back! 1/2 hour later (and another $25 in tech fees for my guy) and they told him it was "mislabeled" and told him where to add the beds.

Once the service contract expires at the end of the year, I will not be renewing and will be looking at other options.

Re: Purchase software outright-No mo. fees?

Thanks for the feedback. Making a decision on software (one of our biggest crutches) is not an easy task.

I just got off the phone with Salon Touch.

$899
(you can finance-3 pymts. over 3 mos.)
Tech support 60 days (This is not great :()

Salon Touch and Sun Touch same price now through November.

Re: Purchase software outright-No mo. fees?

try TanTrack, you can just buy it outright and it's $250 a year for the support, but you can wait it pay for it if you need it. I don't know if you can do EFT's thru TT without support though, I don't use that feature
