Exclamation Tantrack/T-max/Mac Question?

Hello-

I am trying to hook up my equipment and software. I refuse to use a PC. So I installed Parallels on my iMac. TanTrack installed successfully. T-Max software installed successfully. However, Tantrack is unable to communicate with the "ports" on the T-max.

My T-max timer runs perfectly fine on its own. When I hook it into the computer is when it "cannot find port" within the T-max software and the TanTrack cannot find the beds. I have no idea how to solve this, or if it is related to Vista being run through Parallels.

Also, I cannot get my receipt printer and cash drawer to work in TanTrack. I have tried the open drawer button as well as doing a sale.

It seems that nothing is communicating properly. If anyone has any suggestions or is successfully running their salon on a Mac, please let me know.

I am 3 weeks late on my grand opening and this is really putting a damper on me financially. So any good tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks alot!

Re: Tantrack/T-max/Mac Question?

It seems as though I was able fix the tantrack/tmax problem. But I still cannot get the receipt printer and cash drawer to work.. It is from Nichesoft so it should be fully compatible with TT. Im not sure what the deal is.

Please give any advice! :)

Thanks a bunch!

Re: Tantrack/T-max/Mac Question?

Hardware is supported for life if the hardware was purchased through us. Please give our tech support a call and it will be fixed in no time at all.
Now as far as the mac. We can do all the normal T/S steps that we would do on a windows o/s and if that doesn't work then you will need to get with epson/mac and see if they have a compatable driver for your mac computer.

Re: Tantrack/T-max/Mac Question?

Dont look at me... I only played with Parallels for a while and used a PC's shared receipt printer (Star TSP613 parallel) to print so that was easy as setting up any other shared printer. I never even played with the port configurations and now my iMac is back at home!

Let us know how it goes. I know there are a few of us who are/thinking of doing this setup.

Re: Tantrack/T-max/Mac Question?

Hey guys!

just an update:

I finally got everything up and running on Parallels.
The reciept printer, however, was so very inconsistent!
It would only print a test page when I manually selected "open as admin" I had to do this each and everytime I wanted a test page.

It never communicated properly with TT though.
The cash drawer was completely dead!

The drivers were unistalled and reinstalled probably 175 times over the course of 5 days! I would get something to respond and then something else would not be able to be recognized,
(such as my t-max)

I was so deep into the depths of my psuedo PC that I was basically useless... I was lost and making changes that I knew nothing about their purpose!

Needless to say, I sacraficed 5 sweet, sweet days (of being officially OPEN) in order to play on an iMac. But at the end of a "practical" day, I made an emergency run to Best Buy for the most attractive HP I could find. I know nothing of PC's so my goal was .... large screen, tons of USB ports, desireable specs and a decent appearance.

Long story short...

I have been VICTORIOUS!
TT works great.
Tmax works great.
we've got printing going on
and the cash drawer is opening left and right...

I am ready to announce my GRAND OPENING as THIS FRIDAY!

SPECTACULAR!

For those of you who love the iMac idea, .... it is not dead.
Ill still be toying with that behind the scenes.
Any juicy details and I will certainly share.

Until then, I hope youre all rollin in the dough this season!

Ciao.

Re: Tantrack/T-max/Mac Question?

I use a Mac, Tantrack, Tmax, receipt printer and cash drawer installed to the underside of the desk. We installed VM ware. (Virtual Machine). It runs windows off the Mac and we installed Tantrack into the VM. My husband did all of it, and it runs pretty smooth.

I will say every time I call Tantrack with a problem, they always blame it on me having a Mac. I wish they would just make a software compatible.

Re: Tantrack/T-max/Mac Question?

With the X-Code developer tools is EASY to build a Mac/Windows app. Developers are just scared to develop and support another platform.

Re: Tantrack/T-max/Mac Question?

I understand that mac dedication is strong but it is still less than 4 percent of total machines out there and even less of business machines. I have never had a pc virus I couldn't back out or hardware failure beyond wearables like drives and fans (lightning seems to effect macs and pcs though). I just have to ask what is the obsession?
