TanTrack Keeps going to Demo Mode

Friday night TanTrack had an error message to come up & then the software shut down. When we reopened Tantrack it opened in Demo Mode. We tried everything we know to do to correct this problem but nothing worked. Tantrack support is closed on the weekend therefore we had to go all weekend with no software. We had to write everything down on paper to keep up with customer's purchases etc. This is like the 3rd time this has happened to us. Any suggestions of what could be causing this problem.

Third time? What did you do to fix it the first two times?

Dang... they remotely fixed it? Thats just evil. Next time tell them your internet is down and they cant, then have them help you through it and write it down. Or tell them this happens too much and you want to know what exactly they do to fix it so you are not down for the weekend again. Any tech support company dealing with retail POS systems should have 24 hour support, even if its call-back.

Yeah, I agree they should have 24 hour support but when you call they have a message saying their hours are M-F 9 - 6. I left a message friday night but as of today we still haven't received a return call.

Re: TanTrack Keeps going to Demo Mode

The only reason it should go into demo mode is if the "dongle" is not properly installed or not making contact for some reason. I'm sure you checked that, but that has happened to us before.

They do have 24 hour and weekend support, however those afterhours calls are not included in your regular service agreement. It's a per occurance basis. Don't remember the exact amount, but it wasn't anything outrageous and well worth it to get up and running on a weekend.

Re: TanTrack Keeps going to Demo Mode

TanTrack is running in Demo Mode......why?
  1. Is the dongle plugged in?
  2. Is there a red light lit up "on" the dongle it self
  3. Is the Driver installed correctly?
    - Go to the device manager of your computer and make sure that under the Universal Serial Bus Controllers there are 2 devices there that say Aladdin............
If all of the above is True then your program will not run in demo mode. If any of them are false then you will have to correct the issue. Here's the listed steps to correct each.

#1 Fix. - Plug it in
#2 Fix. - It's ether
1. Broken
2. USB Port is having issues
3. The driver is not installed and/or missing proceed to #3
#3 Fix. - Log into http://www.tantrack.com update's area and go to the section titled Drivers and go to the bottom of the page and run the dongle driver install utility.

If windows keeps loosing the driver for the dongle then you might want to check other things out on your computer because that dongle is just like a keyboard or mouse plugged into your computer. Software has nothing to do with the drivers for your USB devices. TanTrack just look's just to see if that dongle is plugged in, just as it would look to see if your mouse is plugged in.
