HELIOS UPDATE!

Helios Software License Audit
Helios will be conducting a software license audit this year in March. Those customers who are using Version 11 will begin seeing a notice pop up in Helios notifying them of this audit beginning in mid March. Customers will have to obtain an update by March 28, 2008 in order to avoid any service interruption. We had initially intended on doing a Version 11 hardware key (dongle) upgrade, but have decided that we will postpone this optional upgrade since we will be introducing our newest version later this year.
Authorized Helios user on an active SMA
To download the necessary version 11 update of Helios go to www.gohelios.com/update and fill out and submit the following information:
Salon Name
Owner’s Name
Salon Address
Salon Phone Number
Once we receive this information we will issue a link for the download. The downloadable update is free, however if you would prefer a physical CD there would be a $5.00 shipping and handling fee.
Unauthorized Helios user
Customers who are currently running a copy of Helios Version 11 that was obtained by someone other than Helios does not have legal authorization to that software license. They will need to contact the Helios sales department at 888.936.5160

It keeps your Helios working.

My understanding is that Helios will stop working if this update isn't applied. Looks like they are going to screw everyone that has canceled their service agreement.

Thats not even legal. Im paying, so no bother, but I dont recall there being anything about the software having been encoded with an expiration date - which is what it is - and if you stop paying, it stops working.

But I do recall that if you are not paying you will not get anymore updates or support, and if you re-enroll, well $$$$$$.

I will have to re-read the agreement and see where it says the software will stop working. Thats BS that they do this.

Anyway, what else is improved? Its 11.6, not 11.5.2 which is SHOULD be if all that was done was to change the expiration. Or is a case of Helios being idiots with the version numbers again....

If you have an authorized copy of Helios (received it from Helios) you are entitled to the update regardless of if you are on a Maintenance Agreement. If you did not get your Helios software from Helios you are not entitled to the update and your software will stop working on March 28, 2008.

Again, if you have cancelled your Maintenance Agreement with Helios you ARE entitled to this update and you will not experience any interruption of service as long as you originally received your software from us.

If you acquired the software from Helios you are able to get the download whether you have a support agreement or not. If you acquired Helios from someone else you are not able to get the update to keep the program working is my understanding.
