Everything updated fine for us. I hate to hear about the problems you are having, especially since we are right in the middle of the busiest time of year! Please keep us updated! |

We just noticed " helios encountered a server error" Our system still works - if we download the update, will this be resolved? If we don't download will our software shut down. How does Helios know to shut down, are we being pinged by the company's server Thanks, Tommy Helios Software License Audit Helios will be conducting a software license audit this year in March. Those customers who are using Version 11 will begin seeing a notice pop up in Helios notifying them of this audit beginning in mid March. Customers will have to obtain an update by March 28, 2008 in order to avoid any service interruption. We had initially intended on doing a Version 11 hardware key (dongle) upgrade, but have decided that we will postpone this optional upgrade since we will be introducing our newest version later this year. Authorized Helios user on an active SMA To download the necessary version 11 update of Helios go to www.gohelios.com/update and fill out and submit the following information: Salon Name Owner’s Name Salon Address Salon Phone Number Once we receive this information we will issue a link for the download. The downloadable update is free, however if you would prefer a physical CD there would be a $5.00 shipping and handling fee. Unauthorized Helios user Customers who are currently running a copy of Helios Version 11 that was obtained by someone other than Helios does not have legal authorization to that software license. They will need to contact the Helios sales department at 888.936.5160 We appreciate all of our customers both past and present as they have provided us the continued opportunity to offer the most trusted and used software in the Tanning Industry. If you have any questions regarding this notice, please contact us at update@gohelios.com. Thanks again for your patronage, Scott Bogdan President[/quote] |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: HELIOS UPDATE! We had been using ver 11.4.1, SP2. Installed the update and 11.6.1 works fine except for Shift Report (so far). Question is, have they established a future "drop dead" date? This certainly will bring all salons who canceled service agreements back into their limelight. Are they planning to force us to purchase new software and/or renew service agreements? |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: HELIOS UPDATE! I never got that letter above. Was that sent registered or did you get it off their website or email or something. Never saw that before. I also see no clear statement that inaction will result in a complete shutdown of the system. Still upset about this issue. Obviously. Last edited by tansource; 03-29-2008 at 10:09 AM. Rep Power: 21 | Re: HELIOS UPDATE! Missing the point. It is not my obligation to find out that they are going to intentionally shutdown my computer systems. Sending an email. Which they have my address and I still didn't get and I don't think I missed it in my junk mail. But still when so much money is at stake it is not their right just like I would not expect my quickbooks program or my antivirus to stop working without some kind of formal notice. Even if they had just had a pop-up for a few months prior (which would be easy to do) that would have been I guess OK but a couple days is too easy to miss and an email to easy to never get |

Agreed. I see your point. I personally did not agree with the way the "software audit" was handled. It was bad timing (spring) and alot of salon owners knew nothing about it. There should have been a letter sent through regular mail alerting everyone about it. On the flip side, I know Helios has to protect their investment. Piracy is a huge problem. It is a very "fine" line. I don't plan on switching software. Hopefully, this will all get straightened out and Helios will continue putting out a great product without kill dates! LOL | |
