what if your pc isn't connected to the internet????

So let me get this right. Lets say your a small (like MOST) salon who happens to have to internet access (as engfant mentioned) and you no longer pay support because is costs too much and you dont get anything out of it, you know, trying to control cost in a crashing industry.

So how are you suppose to know about this? Will Helios call EVERY salon before doomsday?

In my opinion purposely crippling mission critical software, especially when it as legally obtained, will open Helios up for a HUGE lawsuit. That is unless this d-day event was written in the license. I am sure it is, right?

Can you imagine opening up only to find your computers down and since you and a hundreds of other salons are calling tech-support, you have no way to fix it much less download a patch! Screw the pop-up, letters should have been sent out long ago.

By the way, the download link said to download and wait for a rep to call...... I AM STILL WAITING for a rep to call before I install. If I dont get a call, I will not install PER INSTRUCTIONS and will be calling support expecting a SWIFT solution! :)

I would like to thank everyone here for this info.....I know it saved a big hassle on the morning of the 28th......it didn't take long to run the update.....now wether it is ethically correct.....I'll let everyone else fight over that.

I'm on 11.6.1 am I ok? I can't remember if I did the revision of the update or not.

BTW~ I'm trying so hard not to laugh right now.

If you have multiple salons and are paying a maintenance fee for each store, is there a way to get out of that without the program locking up?

Ya. Just download the update. That should remove the update.

According to the original e-mail as long as you legally purchased Helios from Helios and not a third party you can still get the update even if you are not on a support program.

By the way, only one salon needs a maintenance fee, not sure why you are paying for multiple in the first place.

If the code lets it keep running regardless of dongle exp. Then it would be a software overide of the dongle. hmmm

The dongle does not expire, its the software I was told.
