rest assured Brian ... without the V11.6 update any V11 will abort when you attempt to start Helios on Mar 28th and after. Give it a test ... with the dongle on the system (no impact in Demo Mode) ... advance your system date to Mar 28th ... any V11 before V11.6 will abort. It starts giving a warning on Mar 21st, but will continue in ... not so friendly on Mar 28th and after.

Everyone running V11 needs to contact Helios and get the update ... makes no difference if you are on support or not ....

anyone that did not originally acquired and license it with Helios, you will have an issue, time to pay the piper, give Helios Sales a call ... which honestly is totally appropriate.

I see on another board that someone has installed V11.6 and advanced the system date with it and determined that V11.6 has a similar abort on Sept 30th, 2009. Having checked for illegal users this once, I guess they are concerned that someone that got it illegally once, would get the V11.6 equally illegally, whatelse could a second Kill Date serve?

AHHH, just read Scott's email again ... they had intented on requiring a new dongle as well as software update, but looks like they deferred that and just went with the new update to remove the March 28th KILL command ... so Sept 30th ... odds are you will need a new dongle as well as (or instead of) an update.

should I wait until I am dead to deal with it.

think of all those people legit and not legit that will be contacting Helios between March 21st and March 28th, 29th 30th .... sounds like a phone que I would want to avoid.

Resetting the clock wont work, I did this once by mistake and helios recognizes there is a date error in the database! :) Not that it would be a good idea in the first place if it did work.

If you roll forward date on your PC your Helios will stop working - try it.
Roll it back - and it works.
So you either will have to have a year 2000 on your PC or instal update.

unity/ car ... the date issue is only an issue if you try to write a transaction

with date of Mar 28th ... you will not even get into the program

We never received notice from helios either. This is the first I'm hearing about this upgrade.
