Suntouch HELP HOw to...virus/worm - Page 2

Did you turn off system restore first? Also did you remember to set your PC to show all hidden files? I also always write down the path to the file that it can't remove then I attempt to remove it manually from its location.

The worm has locked down the system restore. It will not let us turn it off..Yes we did show all hidden files. I did write down the 2 files that avast couldn't remove...

when I went into search files to look for the 2 files that it couldn't remove..it said there was no file to be found?

Maybe I'm not looking in the right area for turn off system restore?? I go to the icon and its says system restore and restore point..now that i think about it I didn't see a selection of turn on or off. I just send a preselected system restore that was like I said preselected and it wouldn't let me unselect it? Every time we go into something that manages anything it says restricted..worm locks it out..

also when you said on avast there would be a selection # 1 or selection #2 we never got the choice of this either?

I would go to Start, then Run then type msconfig then go to the Startup tab and Disable All... Go to the Boot.ini tab and and select safe boot. Reboot and attempt to turn off system restore in safe mode. If you're able to turn off sys restore then you need to go into Avast and schedule another boot scan.

You will only get this choice if it finds an infected file.

When you go to the first System Restore welcome screen you should see to the left of that screen System Restore Settings or you can right click on my computer then properties then select the system restore tab and click on Turn off System Restore.

eileen, thanks for the info..we put computer in safe mode and when we reboot in safe mode with everything disabled and went into my computer and right clicked and its says, this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effecg on this computer contact your system administrater..The worm will not let us do anything?? Now what or any suggestions?
