Rep Power: 0 | Question about combining bulb types I read somewhere that people have combined high pressure bronzing bulbs with low pressure bulbs in the same bed. They described that they would install a low pressure bulb and then the next bulb would be a high pressure bulb and continue to stagger them throughout the entire bed, top and bottom. This idea seems to be a good idea for someone like me who has a good base tan and wants to simply maintain it. Can anyone confirm this bulb staggering technique? I do understand that the bulb wattage should be the same with both bulb types. I currently have a 32 bulb ETS Sunstar with 100watt Speed 175 bulbs that I would use to do this mod. Please elaborate if saying yea or nay to this idea. Also if you can send links to previous discussions on this topic, please do so. I was not successful in finding any thru the search function. Thanks |

Instead of having all UVB bulbs in the same bed how about adding some UVA bulbs in the mix? This was the root question I was asking. I love how people sling the word 'fool' around so quickly. |

Rep Power: 46 | Re: Question about combining bulb types not may have did! if you dont want to learn why are you here. all lamps ( more correct terminology not bulbs ) have a mix of uva and uvb. yes some people have alternated different lamps but if you dont know what your doing you can end up with stripes and/or burnt. if your doing a search u need to search uva* or uvb* dont forget the little *

Rep Power: 29 | Re: Question about combining bulb types Long story short. Lamps have 100% output. That's all they can put out by definition that 100% is all one can give. NOW, tanning lamps can range from 90:10 (% UVA to UVB) down to 99:1 NOW, the HP lamps you are talking about put out a whole lotta UVA with very little UVB but based on that original 100% total output. "Bronzing" is probably the most incorrectly used term ever. It USUALLY means higher %UVB (like 5%+) but that's red to me. NOT bronze . BACK TO THE QUESTION AT HAND AFTER TRANSLATION, yes, you can do an every other lamp with a different lamp BUT this can get very complicated and expensive and exhausting on the brain as well. You need to stick to lamps that all fall under the same rated tan time and you need to make sure this is done in a high canopy so the light blends correctly and doesn't stripe the tanner. But really, this is going to be an experiment for all who attempt it. Only you will know if it works in your bed. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Question about combining bulb types Yes this is for my home bed (sunstar 32+3Facial). I have to go to the salon 4-5 times a month and get into a bed with bronzing lamps to get a deeper tan than I can get with just my home bed. I was hoping to hear from someone who had tried adding UVA AND UVB lamps to their bed. I am not referring to the high pressure facial bulbs. Sorry for using the wrong terms the first time. |
