I need a computer person - tanTALK

How do I set up my computer to be password protected? I have it set up that the staff logs in under a different name but all they have to do is go to my computer and they can access all of my documents.

If they log on under a different name, you can right click on My Documents > Properties>Sharing and check the box that says make this folder private. After you sign on under your name, that is.

^ what he said. however make sure you back up your documents to an external usb drive or online somewhere. if the computer fails it makes it very difficult to retrieve the docs if needed.

Thanks I tried this but when I get into the properties it says to share this folder drag it to shared documents or to make this folder private check the box but when I go to check the box it isn't highlighted and won't allow me.

Also is your own username set to administrator rights?

Yes I am set to administrator rights, and no I don't use logmein.com

have you looked into getting logmein free? also if you do it with the 30 day full trial you can setup a temporary password and I can do the settings while you watch.

i have a log in name for me and 1 for staff. my computer has different stuff on both sides. as does my documents.....i never did anything special except have the 2 log in names.

are you saying the my computer is the same under both usernames?
