Re: TMAX Manager and serial to USB connectors

If I installl xp there will be no warranty, and if you read the very first response you will see that xp does not make a difference. But thank you for insinuating that I am stupid.

You do realize this post is TWO YEARS old. By now service pack 2 has fixed many com problems.

Putting XP on a Vista machine will not void the warranty anymore than installing Helios would.

You started off your post with this.....

Then I responded with this....

Yeah, wipe out the hard drive and install Windows XP. Vista does and will have problems until the first SP update becomes avail.
Then Engfant responded with.....

or just add a serial port to the pc.

So, since I was the one that responded with taking the Vista off and installing XP, who then, ARE you referring to?

Vista is loaded with problems right now, and your USB ports shutting down can only be 1 of 2 things.
1. Is Vista
2. Is power supply issues.

So, seeing that I run XP with USB to Serial Port adaptors all day long with no issues, I am offering you advice based on what I know.

Re: TMAX Manager and serial to USB connectors

USB to SERIAL is a 50/50 shot at best. It's all software driven and 99.9999% of the products requiring a serial connection is looking for a jolt of electricity to "see" it. USB doesn't really do this. It establishes a connection via software and then you just kinda hope for the best.

and this post is 2 years old and we still post on it. WHY AM I STILL TYPING???

AND NOW?????? AND STILL GOING??!?!?!?!?!?! WHEN WILL THE MADDNESS END!!!!?????

Re: TMAX Manager and serial to USB connectors

HP tells me to call staples, staples says to call Helios and helios says it is Hp. I have been doing this for 6 weeks,I have spent more time talking to tech support then my children! it was april 4th,2008 since this started so it is recent. Staples has told me that the drivers are not xp compatible. I shall try and install the serial port with my fingers crossed as I am out of other options. So I am hoping someone out there has an answer! Thank you for your help
