Have you thought about going wireless?
The only thing wireless is the communications. You still need to provide power to the timers and contact to the bed.

Re: T Max wiring... need some help and advice

thanks guys, wireless scares me as my cell phone drops from one part of the salon to the other, as for the common power, I dont want to use a buck booster, but have opted for a power supply with 2000mA to run 3-4 timers at a time, the only downside I see in that, is that the 16-20ga wire tends to be a lot bigger than any cable found on a universal power supply... so the connection here may be a little messy

Re: T Max wiring... need some help and advice

I am in the process of installing T-Max in my salon of 6 beds. My electrician suggests using the existing wire and connecting it to the manager and 6 3A's keeping them at reception and controlling them with TanTrack. I know they should all be put into the individual rooms but then we wouold need to rewire the whole place when the only reason we are switching over is the tiimer unit we are currently using isn't compatible with any tanning software. Any thoughts or advice, would be appreciated!

Re: T Max wiring... need some help and advice

I have my transformer leads run up inside the wall and plugged into outlets mounted on top plate of the wall. All wiring is hidden.

First off, start from scratch. (you can recycle the contact wires to the beds if they are done right and it will save you some time.) Ditch the power supplies that come with the T-Max. Use a central power source. A .5KVA 12/24 buck booster can be wired to run 12 volts for the timers.

Install the timers in the wall using plastic two gang outlet boxes.

Daisy chain the data cables from room to room and daisy chain a 16 awg zip cord along with it, box to box. Drill all of your holes on top of the walls or, if the last timer system was installed after the walls were up the holes may already be drilled. (another time saver)

You will have one cable return from the closest room to the front desk. This is a daisy chain system. You won't be making home runs from each room.

Install it from scratch. Don't be lazy and rig it. it will just give you nothing but headaches if you cob onto the old system.

6 rooms (with recycling the contact wire) should take you about 5 hours. If you have to pull contact wires or snake the data and power, using some of the old wiring as a snake will save time.
