Re: T Max wiring... need some help and advice
I'm saying that. Keep it away from over head flouerscent lighting fixtures and high voltage conduit. Also, do not run it next to in room music cables if you have that, just to be safe.

Re: T Max wiring... need some help and advice
You will need a special crimper for the RJ-22 ends. Most places doen't carry them. Sometimes you can get lucky and find them at radio shack.
What part of Canada are you at?

Re: T Max wiring... need some help and advice
True dat. A specialty electronics store may have some, or could order them in for you.

Re: T Max wiring... need some help and advice
it's standard FLAT 4-wire for the cabling, and RJ-22 for the ends. Every T-Max device comes with a manual, or you can download it from their website www.appdig.com
the manual shows the config for the wire and crimping also. I've bought supplies from here https://www.tselectronic.com/index.h...86244ca7a2e3e7 many times for T-Max installs, but any good electronics store should be able to help. |

Re: T Max wiring... need some help and advice
its very simple. I just rewired a 10 bed salon last week for a new T-max timer system. Took me about 7 1/2 hours to take out the old wire and rewire for t-max for 10 rooms.

Re: T Max wiring... need some help and advice
I am in Alberta, but I appreciate all the help, I kept reading all the posts, and everyone kept saying it was a special wire... I looked at it and thought... 4 wire phone cord, and most of the disty's want $0.40 - $0.50 a ft for the TMAX data cable, so, I have no trouble getting the crimper or the ends, but I sure want to make sure I get the cable right so I dont have any future issues.
This salon is a mess, it appears to have been fully wired for Tantime, then partially converted to TMAX, throw in the alarm system and the stereo wiring... its a bloody disaster with cables running everywhere and going nowhere... I tried for 2 days to figure it out... then just said screw it, it all comes out. Sun2go, I checked them out, lots of good stuff, but unable to find a flat 4 sheilded wire(sheilded because I can re-fish through the walls and I may get close to some electrical that I dont know is there. |

Re: T Max wiring... need some help and advice
Flat 4/c conductor wire fits into the RJ-22 jack perfectly, with no muss or fuss.
As far as interference, I've installed or viewed many different systems with t-max and have never seen interference pulled through walls. Most comercial installstions will use metallic conduit for electrical wiring, or at least an armored cabling for line voltage wiring, and this will eliminate interference from the T-Max system anyway. cabling http://www.doityourself.com/invt/u884064# manual see section 7.5 http://www.appdig.com/tmax/manuals/tmax_manager_pro.pdf RJ-22 http://www.twstore.com/rj22.html tool https://www.tselectronic.com/paladin/1556.html some suggestions for you, to visualize what you're looking for |

Re: T Max wiring... need some help and advice
Using a central transformer to power all of the timers IS the way to go.
Run 16 ga. min. zip cord (like lamp cord) available in 250 or 500 ft rolls. Don't use anything smaller then that for the power or you will get a voltage drop when the relay on the timer draws power and the timer will keep resetting. A buck booster can be wired to feed the timers with 12 volts. The timers will run on AC or DC 12 volts. A power cord can be wired onto it so you can plug it into a UPS backup and have uninterupted operation. Using a single transformer makes the system more stable too. The data cables are just flat telephone wire with RJ-22 connectors. CAT 5 can also be run for the data if that's what you have laying around. Make sue if you make your own data cables that when you crip the ends on that the wire order is the same at both ends. If you flip the wires or use telephone couplers the system will not work.
