Helios and Tmax Manager troubles

Well I just got a brand new Tmax Manager and am running Helios 11.4, I can get the manager to run through ADnet fine. When I try to run the manager through Helios I have problems.

#1 It will not autodetect the manager at all, I am running a serial to usb converter if that makes a difference.

#2 If I manully set the timer server to the correct port and send time though Helios, the manager wil flash the time sent, then they delay time, but the manager just continuously beeps and then time will not count down. I have to pull the power from the manager to get it to stop. When it powers back up it has the correct time and delay time sent to the room. Occasionaly and error will come up in Helios with problems communicating with the manager but not all the time.

Anyone have any ideas??

Thanks

Re: Helios and Tmax Manager troubles

Did your computer find the converter and try to install a driver for it? You should have a driver disk if the Tmax is new. Read the PDF file pertaining to com ports.

Re: Helios and Tmax Manager troubles

There are special steps for configuring TMax for USB with Helios... Applied Digital or Helios Support can help you.

Re: Helios and Tmax Manager troubles

Changing the COM Port Number
With the release of V1.02.07, FTDI has introduced a properties sheet which allows the user to change the
COM port number of a USB serial port.
From
DeviceManager, select "View devices by type", then "Ports (COM & LPT)". Select the USB serial
port and click
Properties. Select the "Port Settings" tab, then click Advanced. Choose the required COM
port number from the list and click
OK.

Notes
If a modem is attached to the USB serial port when the port number is changed, it will continue to work
under the new port number.
If a modem had been attached to the USB serial port but was not attached when the port number was
changed, it will not work when re-attached under the new port number. In this case, the modem must be
removed from the system and re-installed.
In general, if there are devices in the system which have been attached previously to the USB serial port,
they may not work after the port number has been changed. If this is true, remove the device from the
system and re-install it.

Did you try this?

Re: Helios and Tmax Manager troubles

No I will try it, but I don't see how that would be a problem since it works through Adnet, just not Helios.

Re: Helios and Tmax Manager troubles

I am having a similar problem but I use tan track. I get the following error after i try to reset my beds:

Error #: 8005 - Port already open
Form: frmWaitingList::Get_Status()

Additional: T_MAX.Get_Status(Port #: 4, COMM Settings: 9600,n,8,1)
Line Number: 0

Possible Explanation:
TanTrack was trying to talk to your timer but for some reason the COM port was already in use. This can occur when using programs like 'AdNet' while running TanTrack.

Any thoughts?
