Rep Power: 0 | computer has been hacked.. my computer at the salon uses vnc for helios to access our network and terminals... and as of lately someone has entered our computers after store hours and has been trying to access bank account info.. has anyone else had these issues.. the only reason we use vnc is because Helios and they say that you have to have a password to enter my computer and they are the only ones to have ever had this password. I feel as if any ex-employee or current employee could be using helios info to get inside our computers where they could then have access to eft info and anything else on your computer |

Rep Power: 25 | Re: computer has been hacked.. Why would you leave VNC active .... you should only open VNC Server when remote access is needed, that way you have control over when and who uses it to access your system remotely. and ... I would change the password as often as necessary to ensure security. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: computer has been hacked.. There is a security flaw in some versions of VNC. The attacker can byapass the password. Here is a link to the details and a pointer to the upgrade. Many version of VNC are free. Also do not run VNC unless the vendor needs to call in. http://secunia.com/advisories/20107/ |

Rep Power: 19 | Re: computer has been hacked.. I also noticed Helios got into the direct mail business. Storing salons data at Helios Central would make sense to give Helios the demographics it needs to further it's direct mail business at the cost of giving other salons in that area thier clients. These are just my opinions but the facts are that Centerix and Helios Direct mail were both launched at about the same time. Being a Helios user and salon owner as the famous saying goes I'm weighing my options at this moment of what software I will switch to I suggest the same for anyone wishing to switch to Centrix.
