Re: Converting to Helios from MSTan

HollywoodTan48 did convert to Helios.

Just did not use the Helios provided convert to convert from MS-Tan, did it manually himself.

Re: Converting to Helios from MSTan

Helios rocks was directing his comment to fyregod.

But the points that Helios Rocks brings up were the primary reasons for switching from MSTan to Helios for me.

I sleep better knowing that all my upgrads are getting charged, inventory is now barcoded and able to be scanned at fixed prices. No BS discounts by employees giving their friends lotions at cost, etc.

Not to mention, it's much easier to train new employees on Helios than MSTan, and I can actually use Windows XP instead of '98!

I recently purchased this salon and MSTan was being used. It's anyone's guess why someone would still use such an antiquated software in this day and age. I knew I was going to have to upgrade, and it is the first of many positive changes for my business.

Re: Converting to Helios from MSTan

The reason I asked about MS-Tan...I still use POST98 software.
I'm trying to decide which software to go with.
I'm looking at TanTrack, Salontouch and Helios.
I 'm trying to find out how much of my client info, existing packages, tans, history etc. that can be transferred to the new software.

want to use existing cc machine and cc processor

able to use gift cards

charge upgrade fees

multiple packages for each client

reliable software

good tech support

email capabilities

Well, so far I'm liking Helios. Some people do, some don't it seems.

The conversion from mstan to Helios was a challenge. From what they tell me, Helios has an mstan conversion tool. I elected not to use it since I had a little database "housekeeping" that went along with the conversion. I took the hard road, but it worked out ok.

Although it's a decent software, given it's ancient platform and no technical support, I'd move on to something a little more modern if it were me.
