Here is my story. I bought a prosun Luxura 40/3 . From this guy in Kansas. He told me it was a 2000 model . But after emailing picures to Prosun Glenda tells me it is a 95 model. Go figure .Need to say the guy I bought this piece of crap from wont help me any at all , after he took me for almost 4 K. any way the blue Face plate broke. I was told it would not run with out it. so I ordered a new one , installed it, ran for about 5 minutes then kicked the breaker. then I was told it was a fan, $400. bucks later ran 5 minutes & kicked the breaker. It ran fine till the face plate broke. but who knows why that happened, the bed was not even on. any clues would help me out. There are no burt wires in the bed anywhere. but it does seem to get a bit hot on the top canopy where the first face tanner is . all the lights come on including the face tanners but after 5 minutes she Kicks. I know I know I have been took!! but if any one has any info that could help me I would be greatful
Thanks |

Re: I am desparate
is the blue face plate you are talking about the glass where the facial lamps are located or something else? if it is then it sound likes your fans for the facials are not working or not working correctly causing them to overheat and cracking the face plate.

Re: I am desparate
There are no fans in the top of the bed where the facials are. I have been all over this bed the only fans in it are located in the base of the bed. The two huge ones that take out the hot air threw the duct work.

Re: I am desparate
while I am not too familiar with that bed, I have never seen a tanning bed that has no fans in canopy unless the exhaust fan in bench is connected to canopy by tubes in the hinge of bed that suck air from the canopy into bench and then out of the bed. There has to be a way to cool the canopy. My guess is that cooling system is failing. Why the breaker is tripping? maybe the cooling system(fans) are not working properly, braeking glass and tripping breaker. Or maybe your capacitors have failed, causing increase load on circuit. This may be one issue or two separate issues.

Re: I am desparate
first lets go back to basics and make sure you have the right breaker size and wire size going to the breaker. if thats correct i agree with everyone else and the heat issue

Re: I am desparate
Take CTM's advice. Make SURE the breaker and wire size are correct FIRST. Next, it would seem strange to me not to have cooling fans in the canopy especially with high pressure facials. It's possible they use squirrel cage fans which don't really look like regular bladed fans. Take a closer look.

Re: I am desparate
no fans in canopy just the exhaust I have replaced both fans which was very costly. replaced the capasitors that run them and checked the other capasitors they are working correctly. The bed ran fine when the guy came and hooked it up for a few days. then it was on a double 40 amp breaker 8 guage wire. so when we replaced everything and it kept kicking the breaker we switched the 40 amp with a 50 amp breaker now it runs for 8 minutes instead of 5. the canopy is not getting hot like it used to , it stays cool now but still kicks the breaker. I am at my wits end.

Re: I am desparate
Sounds like it's time to call an electrician. Have them bring an amp meter to see how much current the bed is drawing before and at the time the breaker trips. It's possible that, as the bed warms up, a wire is either touching ground or touching another wire. It's also possible that the main power relay has bad contact points which are arking when the bed is turned on.
