CCS 3 Won't go past 20 minutes?

We just hooked up a new T-Max 30 minute SIP timer to existing network. The CCS 3 Controller will not allow us to past 20 minutes. The distributor claims that the SIP timer is a 20 min. timer and that the CCS Controller has nothing to do with the problem. I can set the time to 30 minutes with the SIP off of the network, so it is a 30 min SIP.
Any help??

Try cycling power to the CCS3. Are you running a computer or using the CCS3 manually?

Thumbs down Re: CCS 3 Won't go past 20 minutes?

I have power cycled everything at least twice, CCS 3, computer, SIP Timer, and the bed with no change.
The SIP & CCS 3 are stand alone, there are problems with Helios 11 and our older Sundash rail timers.
We have 12 other uints, 2 T-Max SIPs, 8 SunDash rail timers, 2 Sundash 2.1 rail timers all are 20 min. or less. Everything else works sort-of fine, Helios 11 maybe?
I have tried to connect the CCS 3 to the computer and start a 24 minute session on our Miracle Sun Venus 180, but no time shows up on the SIP timer. I can start a 20 minute session.
The JK America tech e-mail support says the problem is with the T-Max SIP timer and the JK America Tech Support web site says it is the CCS 3, read the following reply:
Sun Industries, Inc., only manufactures timing systems for its tanning units that operate for a maximum of 10, 12, 15, or 20 minutes. Within these time limits our tanning units provide the maximum level of UV-output allowed by the Food and Drug Administration, under 21CFR, (4MED). The Intellitan timer should not be placed on non Sun Industries equipment.

All my testing seems to tell me that my CCS3 will not exceed 20 minutes. The SIP timer can be set to 30 minutes when I take it off of the CCS network.

Re: CCS 3 Won't go past 20 minutes?

The CCS III will go beyond 20 minutes, if I remember correctly you have to set the max time up to whatever you want it to be. I know that Helios will let you set a bed beyond 20 minutes with no problem but you have to address that situation in your hardware setup for that room. Good luck

Re: CCS 3 Won't go past 20 minutes?

SSTAN,

Do the following:

1) Remove power from your front desk controller (CCS3, CCS4, etc).

2) Set the address on the SIP to 255. This re-writes the memory chip that holds the parameters and makes sure the timer reports the correct max time to the CCS controller.

a) Remove power from the SIP.
b) Hold down the Start/Stop button.
c) While holding down the Start/Stop button apply power to the SIP. As soon as you see a display, release the button.
d) Press the Up button until a flashing 55 is displayed. After 48, the display will jump to 55. If you pass it you will need to count up again. Stop when the display shows a flashing 55.
e) Once the display shows a flashing 55, press the Start/Stop button. The SIP timer will reset and go to a 00.

3) Next step is to set the address on the SIP.

a) Remove power from the SIP.
b) Hold down the Start/Stop button.
c) While holding down the Start/Stop button apply power to the SIP. As soon as you see a display, release the button.
d) The display will show a 01. Press the Up button until the desired address is displayed.
e) Press the Start/Stop button. The timer will reset and go to a 00.

4) Final Step is to set the Delay on the SIP.

a) Remove power from the SIP.
b) Hold down the Up button.
c) While holding the Up button apply power to the SIP. As soon as you see a display, release the button.
d) The display will show a 00. Press the Up button until the desired delay is displayed.
Each count is a tenth of a minute. So of you want a three minute delay, count up until the display reads a 30, 4 minute delay, count it up to 40 and so on.

e) Once the desired delay time is displayed press the Start/Stop button. The timer will reset and go to a 00.

Re-apply power to the CCS controller and see if you can set a session time of 30 minutes.

Re: CCS 3 Won't go past 20 minutes?

:) To: Kevin Barrett
That did the trick!!! Resetting the SIP timer.
The bed will now go to 24 (30) minutes!!!! Horray!!
All other problems with the CCS 3 and Helios 11 are resolved as well. We now have all of our beds running through Helios 11 at last.

Thanks, you are the timer God!!!
