Helios and Windows XP Home compatability

First off, i want to say hi to everyone.. first post on here and you all seem like a very helpful / knowledgable bunch. so im looking forward to the feedback.

im working on an old old oldddd machine for my aunts tanning salon right now.. and id rather just transfer everything she has onto a different computer, cryptobox and all...

my one underlying question is this:

she is currently running windows 98 with helios v. 9.1.5
is it possible to flawlessly run helios 9 on windows xp home?
if not... will pro work?

looking forward to the feedback. thanks!

Re: Helios and Windows XP Home compatability

Firstly .... per the Software Maintenance Agreement your aunt will sign or has signed to acquire the V11 upgrade ... Helios require XP Pro or 2000 per that agreement.

Helios V11 will install on XP Home, but upon occasion issues can develop because of features that XP Home lacks ... Helios Tech Support will require you to upgrade to XP Pro prior to providing any technical support.

The issues are VERY inconsistent ... I have seen it work fine from the start and also be a problem from the start ... some features of Helios will not work with the Home Edition if you want them ... problem ... I have seen Timer interface issues, that upgrading to XP Pro resolved immediately.

Hope this helps .... oh just in case I was not clear ... XP Pro

Re: Helios and Windows XP Home compatability

Andy, does the service pack of XP matter with V11? I seem to remember that V10 said you needed XP service pack 1 (is that right?)

Re: Helios and Windows XP Home compatability

John .... that would be because 9.4 lacks the features that Home also lacks ... thus it works

EXCEPT ... there have been issues with interfacing to a TMAX Manager, most times works fine then sometimes all of a sudden it stops ... go figure.

Electric_Sun ... all versions of XP Pro should be compatible with V11.4

Re: Helios and Windows XP Home compatability

Andy

I upgraded to 11.4 and I have XP Pro.

My question is, on occasion the printer setup on the peripherals reverts back to none. It does it on both computers that I have networked. But it doesn't do it at the same time on both. Very random.
