Unhappy Helios

I am running Helios 10.2 and was cleaning up computer and deleted Helios 9 and Helios 11. Also cleaned up alot of old files on computer because it was running very sloooooooooow! Went back into Helios and it told me that there was an error. Repaired Helios through the add and remove program list. Also re-installed Helios 10.2. Now I can run a shift report, but can not run a daily sales report. I get the error message:
Error Reading Records
Error # 2147191854
Description: The remaing text does not appear to be part of the formula.

Can any one help me?
I cancelled tech support, because I had 3 salons that I was paying $39.99 on each salon and never used it.:shy:

Re: Helios

or for a less expensive option ... call Helios Sales 888-936-5160 ... and re-enroll for Helios Software Maintenance

Re: Helios

Sorry Andy, there's always that option too. If you're going to run problematic equipment and software, it's always a good idea to buck up the tech support fees if they offer it; especially between 5pm on Friday and 6pm on Sunday, cause that's when Schmidt tries to end it "all" in the proverbial fan. (For the record, Helios is still my favorite, but I've heard the other is great for multi-location networking)

Re: Helios

if you back up your current files can you just do a system restore?

Re: Helios

A windows system restore does not effect documents, only programs and registry settings. IE, if you deleted the Helios folder, and then did a system restore, the folder may be put back, but then things like the databases, contracts, and releases may be gone.

Re: Helios

Depending on how you deleted 9 and 11, that may have been what caused your problem. If you went to the control panel and removed them, you may have gotten a prompt saying "windows has detected the files are no longer in use, blah, blah, do you wish to delete them?" If you hit "yes" or "yes to all" it may have removed some V10 files. The windows uninstaller is more than a tad overzealous. Easiest thing to do would be copy the Data folder to your desktop. Uninstall Helios 10, restart, and reinstall. Then, copy your data folder back in. You will get a prompt saying "the folder already contains a file. . ." Just click "yes to all." Hope that helps!

Re: Helios

$40 a month for 3 salons, you did the right thing if it has been a few months canceling your tech support. You saved a ton even if you have to buy the new version. Good for you as long as you backed up your data before you started deleting files.
