Cool Will any ole cable do???

Let's just say you were blonde and misplaced your T-Max box from a year and a half ago. Can I just get a cable from a computer place to hook up the manager pro to the computer? What about the ADNET or whatever else was in the box I needed?

Help a blonde out. *flips hair but bonks head on wall*

Re: Will any ole cable do???

Yes, I believe what you need is called a "serial cable". I don't really know what the Adnet is for, I've never known anyone who ever installed it. ood luck.

Re: Will any ole cable do???

Sandi, ours has a serial adapter with a usb cable going to the pc. The connection they sent is not right but it works. I believe the adnet uses an
RJ-22 that's a little smaller then an RJ-11 a traditional phone line uses. Radio Shack usually has them.

Re: Will any ole cable do???

Eileen, Are you using Tan Track or Adnet to operate the T Max manager.
We have no problem with the Serial adapter to USB when using Adnet 2000, but when I try and use TanTrack it gets all screwed up.

Re: Will any ole cable do???

We're using adnet 2000, the problem isn't with the software. The connection is backwards so I can't screw it to the panel. Both ends are female connections so it just dangles there LOL. Sometimes it falls out :(

You'll need a RS232C DB9M(ale) to DB9F(emale) serial cable to run from the T-Max to your computer. Your local computer store should stock those. You should also first check the back of your computer for a un-used serial port, they come in two configurations DB9M (M=Male, a connector with 9 pins) and DB25M (M=Male, a connector with 25 pins).

If your computer has a un-used DB9M your good to go with the serial cable, if your computer has a DB25M, in addition to the serial cable you will need a DB25F (F=Female, a connector with 25 sockets) to DB9M serial port adapter to connect between the serial port on your computer and the serial cable coming from the T-Max. Your local computer store should stock those too. If there is no un-used serial port on your computer your local computer store should stock plug-in serial port boards if there is an available slot on your computer's motherboard.

ADNET is Applied Digital's computer software to control the T-Max if you don't have salon software that already does that.
Good Luck.
