Helios Backoffice

Wanted to see if anyone had Bellsouth DSL and Router and was using Helios' backoffice. I have spent a ton of time on the phones trying to get mine to work and Helios blames the router while Bellsouth blames Helios. It constantly goes back and forth. I have a credit card machine that is pinholed and I also have tried Windows XP Remote Desktop connection and they work fine so I find it hard to believe that the router won't let someone access my computer at the salon. I have tried to forward ports, and we even have changed the settings in the router so that the requested port (port 80) could be open so that backoffice could work. To no avail.. I am so so so frustrated with this. It seems all Helios tells me is that if I can get through via local host, then backoffice works and they are pretty much done helping me. Bellsouth constantly tells me port 80 is open and forwarded and seems to be working fine. Can anyone help??????????????????????

Re: Helios Backoffice

Just wanted to let you know I finally got backoffice working. A big thanks to Terry at Helios for taking the time and having the patience to work through all the problems. Some others that I have dealt with have only said, If you can access it through local host, there is nothing else we can do, bye. But Terry helped me look at several different things with which I saw something that didn't look right. It was inside the Windows firewall under the advanced key. If you don't have backoffice, you should try it. It's a great tool!! Thanks so much Terry!!

Re: Helios Backoffice

That is what Helios told me also -- router problem not our issue. They said I did not have the router or something or other I needed to make it work. I bought the complete system from helios! I ended up buying pcanywhere for over $200.00!

I'm going to call Terry!

Re: Helios Backoffice

BlueEz007,
i believe the backoffice is so you can process credit cards thru helios. i did mine separate with costco for credit cards but i still use the same pc and router.

Re: Helios Backoffice

No, backoffice is a way to interact with your host computer from a remote computer or second location.

Re: Helios Backoffice

If you don't want to spend the money on PC anywhere etc, you might want to try http://www.realvnc.com or http://www.tightvnc.com/ aol has linktomypc in beta it might be released soon, not sure of the cost but it's user friendly.

Re: Helios Backoffice

NO ... that is not what Backoffice is

Backoffice sets up your Helios Server within the salon for access over the internet for reporting and file maintenance.

You can do all Helios reporting and most file maintenance from a remote location. It also has a simple custom reporting writer called SQL Wizard.

All functions operate in the background so you do not interrupt the operator at the salon

Re: Helios Backoffice

So Andy... If I bought the whole computer set up from Helios, shouldn't I be able to just get that up and running without router issues? I'd really love to use this feature. Perhaps I am just not computer savy enough to figure this out.
