Re: Helios Backoffice

internally using localhost ... yes ... router plays no part

BUT

internet connection will be totally dependant on a proper router configuration and for that matter your ISP even allowing remote access

Re: Helios Backoffice

I've just changed laptops and can't get any backoffice reports to show using activex rather than html. html works fine but I just get a blank page if I try to run reports using activex which is the default. Anyone have any idea what I might need to change on the laptop? Absolutely nothing has changed on the salon server.

Re: Helios Backoffice

you should see a little yellow bar across the top of the screen, that says Install ActiveX ???

click on it, and say yes.

Re: Helios Backoffice

Andy-

We are running Helios version 11...is backoffice supported with that version?? I would love to be able to access Helios from the internet, but have not upgraded to another version due to the fact that all of the new versions require Helios to hold all of my salon information, which I do not want....but does version 11 have the Backoffice feature?

Re: Helios Backoffice

yes .... V11 has BackOffice

It is included on the Helios V11 CD ... needs IIS (optional feature of Windows) installed.

Instructions for installing it are on the V11 CD in the Backoffice folder.

it is a very powerful tool for data mining ... I honestly do not use it much for Data Entry ... mostly ok there but there are a few issues

BUT FOR REPORTING is is great ... and the SQL Wizard it is FANTASTIC.

The lack of this same ability in CENTRIX for adhoc reporting against your database (as of the last info I have) is one of the MAJOR issue for use to consider CENTRIX.

I just do not understand the closed approach that Helios has taken with CENTRIX in 2006/2007 ... they will say security of your data ... well if that is the issue, guess no one should ever leave their home for fear of getting in an accident. Come on guys ... seriously there are alternatives that allow for appropriate security of data and provide for appropriate levels of salon Management (such as the Owner of the Salon) to have complete access to their data.

BUT with V11 good to go for at least 1 year and about 2 months from today.

For one more year??? What happens afterwards? Well I'm on 11.3.40 right now! What happens to us in a yr? No more Tech Support which I rarely use? Do I have to look for another Software if I don't want Centrix??
