Hi folks,
my wife and I just opened salon 3 weeks ago. We have not yet decided on a software as yet, your suggestions would be appreciated. thanks micheal for activating me I don't know what the problem wasut I'm in thank for the great support.
Get all the Demos and try them all out. There were some that I couldn't even figure out how to put the client in a bed. If I can't figure it out right away in a demo then I don't want it.

I went with TanTrack. Nice big button that say Tanning Session.

Re: Salon Software

Never took a class, learned from index and calling support, using it for 7 years now, very easy once you learn it.

Although Helios is a great program it rooks you in several ways.

If you purchased anything 11.0 and under and only used the program for the required 2-3 months at 39.95 per month and then cancelled , which they promoted, what they didn't tell you in the really fine print was if you ever wanted to go back and upgrade they will charge you 39.95 per month for all the back months not used from date of cancellation and a $399.00 enrollment fee to upgrade.

We never used the support and the program is very easy to use so we cancelled, as soon as we cancelled they came out with the upgrade version (nice, nice, nice) ofcourse, we decided we'd wait for a bit, we waited to long. They wanted us to pay 23 months @ 39.95 (1840.00) + the enrollment of 399.00...yeah not, so we didn't....

well well, the deal is, we bought out a competitor, had to liquidate some to do it, moved to their location, they have sunease program....closed our salon on 12/31/2005 and reopened new one on 1/7/2006, well not so easy, Helios program not working with T-MAx or beds, saying software program error, installed on another pc, still the same, call HElios won't help, desperate just want an answer....Well that answer came at a price $479.00 of which we don't really have to throw away because there is so much more that could go to. Needless to say we paid it got our help and the beds running.

THE ANSWER FROM HELIOS about the software problem took less then twenty seconds, almost as if they programed the glich in the system for those of you that cancel....the date of the last transaction needed to be changed from 12/31/2005 to 1/1/2006. What a bunch of bull, I should've stopped payment on the check.

I didn't stop payment and we now have the program with the upgrade, thank god Kate was good to us. Here's the clicker now, you cannot end the program anymore, you will always pay $39.95 per month, if you cancel it will cost you the $399.00 enrollment fee that they waive for you to take their program.

So do as much research as you can before you buy just because it's free doesn't mean it's FREE, there is always a catch.....
Just my opinion, that's all....

Re: Salon Software

'Just went throught he same thing. I inherited SunTouch Plus from a salon I liquidated in a nother state and brought to Chattanooga, TN, and while I won't say it was EASY to go through the transfer of ownership process (a $50 dollar fee and a LOT of hold time with tech support and sales) but I've got their latest version and all is well.

Helios appeared to be a leader, but I just assumed my confusion with it was due to inexperience in the field, and being a moron to start with. I am glad to see I am not alone now and that maybe, just maybe...it wasn't me.

I don't expect to use someones product for free any more than people should expect to use my beds for free (not that that keeps them from asking, heh) but Helios lost me as a customer where a little flexibility would have kept me in.

Re: Salon Software

My pick-- http://www.idi-usa.com/
GL-- software is an important decision...it is difficult to switch later. Well at the very least a pain to retrain staff and yourself.
Choose the soft ware with teh best reputation and the most securities as well as the ease in training new staff..JMHO
