Gift Cards on Helios

Anything new regarding Gift card compatability with Helios? It's that time of year where gift cards would be huge

Still on the to do list to the best of my knowledge.

Based on comments by Tony, I would only expect whatever is done in Helios regarding Gift Cards to relate to Helios Centrix (V12).

I would not expect anything until the summer of 2006 at the very earliest.

I actually found a company that I can use for both the gift cards as well as the gift card processing through a standard CC terminal in my case I have the Tranz330. When you sell them a giftcard you use the terminal (connected to the processor via phone line)it then loads the card up with the value of their choice. Then with each purchase it is swiped at the tranz330 and they deduct a track the value and provide reports.

Best approach without an integrated function within Helios.

If you are using only this Gift Card approach ... you can turn Gift Certificate tracking off inside System Settings on the first tab and use Gift Certificate payment method to track the amount of Gift Card redemption. The sales code to sell a Gift Card would be a MISC sales code type not Gift Certificate ... thus no number.

If you are going to also sell in store Gift Certificates ... then I would suggest processing Gift Cards just as another type of Credit Card payment. Suggestion going purely with the Gift Card approach.

I most likely will not be using GC's when I switch so turning tracking off sounds like it will work, only problem is what about outstanding GC's that have not yet been redeemed?

Once you turn off tracking ... they will not be tracked.

Your call as to the right time to do that

you can of course still record the redemption as Gift Certificate, just no control to ensure it is valid.

The Gift Card redemption and Gift Certificate redemption would of course be together.
