Re: T-Max and Tan Track

oh no...

on a little side note... do they have a consumer (home-use) grade processor (ie atom, centrino, celeron, etc.)? Tantrack is made to function with Pentium branded processors only.

good luck with the troubleshooting

Re: T-Max and Tan Track

As far as I know minus the serial port, its a "business" grade machine. I do know that the OS is Windows 7 Home Pro, that came installed on it. I believe it is actually either a pentium dual core or possible an i5 or i7, will have to wait until tomorrow to check.

I am configuring an old Dell Dimension 2350 that I have on hand to take up there and try. It does have a serial port, so maybe it will function enough for them until they can purchase a new machine.

Re: T-Max and Tan Track

The type of processor is not likely the cause. There is no reason at all to disable your dual core.

If you are using the serial to USB adapter, that is most likely the issue. They can work but they are rather flakey. Yes, they are shipped with the TMax units because most computers do not come with serial ports anymore as a standard option. The average business user will never need a serial port. However, in our industry its highly recommended. The units we sell DO come with them for this very reason.

There is a company you can purchase the serial cards from online called Cables Unlimited. They run about $40 + s/h and then you have to install the card. They make several models for different types of internal ports - possibly even one with a horizontal mount for a slimline type system. That said, the HP All-in-one type computers you cannot expand as they have no such slots for anything like that.
