Rep Power: 0 | Has anyone had trouble with this program working with a Bellsouth Netopia Router? I have worked with Helios tech support for hours to no avail. The guys are great at Helios, but we just can't seem to get the backoffice to work. Bellsouth can access my computer fine from their location my computer is accessible from the outside world, but for some reason, we just can't access the webreports. Any help would be appreciated. |

Rep Power: 19 | We use Helios backoffice through a BellSouth DSL with a STATIC (NOT dynamic) IP. Static IPs are fixed address (like 122.102.32.2) so your work computer (which is hosting BackOffice) can be connected to from a client computer somewhere on the internet. I think the standard BellSouth DSL connections are dynamic which means each time the computer connects to the internet, BellSouth assigns an IP address which may, or may not be the same. Basically, if you want your computer to host you need a static IP address. My recollection, from over two years ago when I set this up (for the security cams) was that the DSL modem had to be configured as a "Bridge" and the router had to be configured to authenticate (log on) and HTTP host (or port forward). Rep Power: 25 | Verify that your ISP (BellSouth) allows access on port 80. Many ISP will block activity on the HTTP port. If this happens to be the case, Helios Tech Support can assist you changing the default Web HTTP port to another port ie 81 and reconfiguring your Router to forward Port 81. |

Rep Power: 0 | Andy: We have done that. Tried 80, 81, and 82. I've almost considered going out and buying a Lynksis router because Helios tech support know that they work. Something has to be preventing me from getting through. Not sure if there are tech notes are not, but if there are, you can see everything we've tried. Phone: 615-386-3006 |

Rep Power: 19 | Tan2000, How's it going? Any Luck? How many ports are on your router? I can't speak for BellSouth in your area, but we have a BellSouth static DSL at work and I have one at home and both permit access to port HTTP port 80. I've only heard of IPS's blocking SMTP port 25 for spamming reasons, the concept of blocking HTTP port 80 on a static IP seems odd (what else would you want to host if not a web server?), but this could be something new. I also have a recollection of configuring a timeout to zero, no timeout, can't remember if it's for the modem or router though. Don't think this effected initial connections, just broke connection after 20 minutes. Or something like that? Tom |
