I spoke with a Helios sales rep recently and was left with a few questions.

First off.
Helios contains an appointment book but she said it was woefully inadequate and recommended bookyourself.com. I could not get a complete answer as to whether bookyourself ran on a local computer or on bookyourself's server and the customers website simply linked to them.

If the Helios appointment book worthless or will it do the job? And if bookyourself is the way to go can it be published locally off the web services in XP or even Windows Server?

Thanks for the time.

The appointment book is pretty useless...it will allow you to book people in and thats it...its up to you to check it during the day...I was hoping it may have the facility to book the bed out so if you forget about an appointment a message would come up like "this bed has been booked by another customer until . please choose another bed. But it doesnt do that....not sure about bookyourself.com...you do need a wide area network running and XP professional...I think its all done by communicating between your comp and the bookit yourself server...but then don't expect too much from it.

Forget about using the appointment book. I asked when it would be made useful and my response was 2012, it wasn't a priority. Our salon is 99% by appointment and we would love this feature, so we do the paper thing. They should just take the appointment book out of the program. It is useless and I would be embarrassed to have something this poor in my product.

JStarr - Bookyourself.com operates from an ASP (Applicaton Service Provider) Server that Helios has contracted to provide this hosting for our Bookyourself clients.

It does not operate from your internal systems.

You can review the Helios Demo to see if the Helios Appointment Book will meet your needs. It is very simple and allows you to enter Appointments that you have taken. It does not provide any controls over bed management and is solely a reference tool.

redbud2005 ... the internal appointment books is still there because we have a few clients that do use it and want it to remain. It will not receive any development attention.

V12 will have an enhanced Appointment Book but in the ASP model of Bookyourself.com It will be quicker that 2012 ... but honestly will most likely not be enhanced beyond the current Bookyourself model in the first releases of V12.
