I pay $39.99/month for the Maintenance Support for Helios. It states directly on their website that I can use the software FREE of charge. So, if I decide to cancel my maintenance agreement, do I get to keep the dongle and continue to use the software? Without the dongle you have limited access.

Helios Statement:
What used to sell for $895 is now FREE when you sign up on an optional software maintenance agreement for $39.99 a month. You can cancel this agreement at anytime and continue to use the software as long as you want. However, as long as you remain on the software maintenance agreement you will receive the Helios software for FREE, as well as all future downloadable updates/upgrades, FREE technical support and FREE training.

I think that means if you opt out of technical support, you have to pay a flat fee (and perhaps a yearly upgrade charge) to continue using the software...

I thought it meant that you could use version 10 free of charge if you cancel the maintenance agreement.

The way it sounds to me, I can cancel my agreement and continue to use the software. I understand that I won't get support, upgrades etc. Does it mean they will charge me $895 for the dongle? You know how companies scam people, they will say the software is free and the dongle is $895???? Anyone done this???

You pay a $25 DEPOSIT for the dongle. This is refunded if you return the dongle, $895 is REPLACEMENT cost of the device if you lose it.

$39.95 is for maintenence, ALL updates, and support of the operating software program.

In theory you COULD cancel the monthly, but would lose all future upgrades, period.

If you decide to get back on the program, you WILL pay for all missing months of support anyway.

only fair to those that keep up the system, just like your own EFT program.

So, if you dropped the support and then decided you wanted it again, a year from now, you would have to pay for the months you didn't use?

Sounds like a scam to me...

The more I hear about this helios thing, the less impressed I am....

I don't see a scam upfront your given two choices do you want to purchase the software or do you want to lease it out with free tech support and upgrades.

GENIUS - Now there's a play on words.

You are NOT given two choice, your only choice IS the maintenance agreement. You can't just buy the software anymore.

Looks like SalonTouch will be getting my business very soon. Sorry Helios.
