Just out of curiosity, what was the hack and was it from a security flaw in Windows? What were they able to get? Cannot build fear without an explanation. Most things that are hacked are easy passwords. If that is how they hacked you, that’s not windows fault.

Upgrade to PRO it is worth it. You already have XP. It will cost about $200 for the upgrade at most and the securities are unbelievalable.

Folks ... let me try and make this simple

Helios does not support XP Home ... for many reasons ... security, features, etc etc etc.

Per your software maintenance agreement .... XP Professional or Windows 2000 are the approved and supported operating systems.

Windows security flaw was the culprit...method was to send a specific message to one port and a continuous garbage string to another port (I don't really care to say which ports)on the same connection...somehow it overflows the buffer and causes whatever form of authentication to be verified...I don't remember all the details anymore, but I do remember that there was a service pack issued some time thereafter to correct this and other security issues. The biggest problem I have with windows is security, but general bloat runs a close second...

And what did they get? Not much, actually...we don't use win systems for any mission critical data. It was just a system I use to house PDFs of technical docs. But they were able to corrupt the OS, so the machine hung up and I had to reinstall...

By supoort you mean Tech Support? Will 9.4 operate properly with XP Home?

I'm not going for the new Helios, that's for sure. I like my 9.4.. It's paid for.
