This is both a warning to WAN users and also a question to WAN users if they have experienced the same problem.
Ever since I have started on the WAN in June/04, I have had in-house charges dissappearing from the "Balance Due" field. I believe the amount of lost $$$ is now in the 1000's. Helios Tech has been good in the sense that they address each client that I notice this problem with, but as of today the problem is still not resolved. On several occasion they have told me the problem is fixed with a newer version, but it continues to happen. I have also been told that you can't in-house a charge that has already been in-housed, but I am not convinced since it does work most of the time and the only other option would be to turn the client away.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem and if they have found a way around it. I am sick of losing money because of this bug that Helios can't seem to address.

Thanks

Andy: I have the same thing. Plus, disappearing tanning packages, and unbalanced reports when doing voids.
I use the WAN too.

And yes, I use XP PRO with the latest service pack.

CentralVA ... could you please contact JJ at Helios with info regarding these issues.

I am out of the office until the New Year ... perhaps you can provide additional info that can help identify the source of this Balance problem.

We are aware of the void issue, and it is being addressed.

ATTENTION ANYONE THINKING OF GETTING STARTED WITH HELIOS:

Do not do it! They are a horrible company and you will have many problems. You will have problems that you don't even know about. Whatever the case, you will LOSE TONS OF MONEY by choosing Helios. There are lots of alternatives so find another program that you like and go with that. I used Helios for about 5 years and it was the WORST decision I have made in my 8 years in the business (and I own a Leg Tanner!).

ATTENTION ANYONE CURRENTLY USING HELIOS:

It's not as hard as you think to switch to another software. I was running 4 salons on Helios WAN, and made the conversion over to Sunlync this past December which is a true real-time multi-salon platform. There were some minor issues, but overall it is a million times better than Helios. No comparison.

I feel so bad for anyone who has purchased hardware from helios (ie. cc readers, thumbprints, computers, etc) because they totally rip you off and add on all types of fees that are ridiculous. I truly believe the only reason they are still in business is because there are just too many salon owners that don't realize what a scam Helios is.

Anyway, good luck!

Re: Helios WAN and Dissappearing In-house Charges

I know this is an old post, but we have has some of the same issues, if we complete a transaction at the top of each hour when Helios update across the WAN, sometimes, not away, the sale will be in the clients history but the info in the membership box is gone. When we find these errors, usual when a client comes in to tan the next visit, they have no package, I can see that the sale was completed at 1:00:19 pm or something like that. Anyyone else.

Re: Helios WAN and Dissappearing In-house Charges

yes .... it continues to happpen on the V11 WAN

You will also find issues related to using Prepaid Dollars and Bonus Bucks within the same transaction session as they were added to the acct ... this can happen on all users not just WAN.

You will also find issues if an EFT membership is cancelled in the same transaction session as it is opened ... the EFT record will be handled properly but often the Membership on the client profile will not be cancelled.

Re: Helios WAN and Dissappearing In-house Charges

Great News - there is a fix now for this problem. That is to switch to Sunlync because Helios will never fix this along with the million other bugs in their program. Or, and this is hilarious, you could take the advice Scott Bodgan at Helios gave me which is to not do any of the transactions in question when your batch is running. Ya ok moron, I'll train my staff to double check that and tell the clients to just wait in the lobby while our piece of crap Helios does it's thing. That is one thing I do miss about Helios - always gave me a good laugh.
