I have been using Tan Track for 2 years and I have the tech support also. I am interested in using the Email Marketing. I have emailed Nichesoft 2 or 3 times about this and the replies I get never explain how to use this feature. I don't know about HTML and as I understand, I would have to know HTML to use this feature. I want the emails to open when clicked on. I do not want attachments. There is nothing in the help menu about using the email marketing. If you could please explain what I need to do to use the email marketing with your software I would appreciate it. TAK

The e-mail marketing feature allows you to send an e-mail to groups of your customer database. The e-mail can be in one of two formats. Regular TXT file, or HTML file. The TXT file is the easiest. You can type out your e-mail using Notepad and save the file somewhere to use in your e-mail. Or, if you prefer a more professional looking e-mail you can use the HTML file instead. Even without embedded graphics you can create an e-mail that has nice fonts & colors that will look quite a bit more professional than using regular text. If you want your e-mail to contain graphics you must have them located on a publically accessible place on the web as they cannot be included with the e-mail directly. There are many programs that will allow you to create HTML based files - such as MS Word, Front Page, and quite a few free HTML editors. I hope that helps!

What needs to go in the box for the SMTP Server?

Exactly that! Your SMTP server. When you sign up with your internet service provider they will give you two server addresses - Inbound E-Mail (POP) Server, and Outbound E-Mail (SMTP) Server. This address is only necessary if you want to use the e-mail based marketing abilities of TanTrack.

Sherin...

Where are you putting the SMTP. When I go into TanTrack to the emial marketing section, I don't see an area that asks for the SMTP.

In the Customer section, on the Tools Tab. When I click on email marketing, I get a box that comes up and says I have not set that up yet.

I don't get that screen and I don't remember setting up my email marketing. Tan Track needs to put some instructions in the help menus about this email marketing. I am totally lost with it. I am not computer illiterate, but every time I ask Tan Track for help with this feature, I never get an answer that helps me.
Thank you for your response.

I agree that a manual would be a benefit.
What version are you running? Have you updated recently? Their support staff is excellant!

I'm running 2.4.5, the most recent version. I agree the support is good, but I have had alot of trouble with understanding the email marketing feature. I get very short answers that are always the same no matter how different I ask the same questions.
