does anyone make tanning salon software for the mac?
im switching over to a computer based system for my tanning salon. i had an old but decent HP computer that i was planning on using, but now ive realized the computer is too slow and unreliable. im an AVID mac user and i absolutely HATE windows based PCs. so its going to kill me to invest money into a cpu i know isn't going to work properly just for tanning software. also, has anyone used the tmax timer with 3rd party software outside of the usual tanning salon programs i.e helios, tantrack, etc? will it work? i was debating getting a point of sale client and trying to run that for my salon, but if its not going to sync with the tmax timer thats a bit of an issue. |

Leonard, I am not aware of any Tanning Software that runs on a MAC ... very limited business software has been development related to MAC ... they dominate the Graphics area but are nearly absent from the Busniess Software area.
You would most likely find that generic POS software would not address the needs related to managing your Tanning Client base ... the purchase and use of packages and memberships. Helios will in the future have an ASP model of their software (Application Server Provider) that will only require a "Dumb" terminal(s) within the salon (thus Windows not required) but that will be a year PLUS from now. In my opinion, you will be best served by biting the bullet ... get a PC based machine ... and select the software that best meets your needs. _________________ Andy Thompson Authorized HELIOS Independent Consultant Office: 877-777-6717 CELL: 317-529-0041 andy@myatso.com[ This Message was edited by: Andy @ MyATSO.ca on 2004-09-27 07:36 ] |

I can give you one idea.... get a team of alph/beta testers that own and run salons but are also computer literate. That's how microsoft setup gamezone. I was one of the original team of 12 to tell them what they need in the spades card game there.

Re: tanning software and/or tmax timer w/ Mac OS X
Now days there is MUCH more POS software for a Mac than a PC, even in 2004. But there is nothing tanning-wise made for Mac.
However, you should be able to run Helios via Parallels. Its what I will be trying out this summer to see how well it works with the new iMac I have. http://www.parallels.com/ By the way, anyone who types MAC instead of Mac has no clue what they are talking about when it comes to the Apple platform. A MAC is a network address, a Mac is a nickname of the Macintosh line of computers!
